It's a slow day in the sports world, so this thread got me thinking about music. Those who don't like this music, is it just her music specifically, or the blues genre in general?

I'd never heard of her, but I liked the music, so I started a Pandora station, now I'm listening to some good blues music that I otherwise wouldn't hear. Same thing happened recently when someone told me to check out a band called "Red Wanting Blue", a band that's been around a while, but I had never heard of. My favorite bands are along the lines of Pearl Jam, The Foo Fighters, & U2, but I think my musical taste if fairly diverse; there is SO much great music out there, it can be challenging to discover it.

I think there's too many people who have their favorite genre/bands that they listen to almost exclusively and are missing out on some great stuff.

Having said all that, what are your favorite genres/bands?

I love the blues, just don’t like her. I love music and listen to a wide range. Currently diving in to a lot of Frank Zappa

I actually know her name from looking up “oil can” guitars. There was a video of her playing one. It’s not really my style for blues though.
I prefer Albert King, Buddy Miles, B.B. etc.
Rory Gallagher is someone that not enough ppl seem to know about.

Zappa would be my choice if I could only listen to one artist the rest of my life. So many different musical styles to choose from with him.

Funny you should mention that. I recently retired and have been thinking of moving to Montana to raise dental floss.

Disagree with "music is bad". C'mon man, she's got the Blues!
Lol white ladies with the blues. You can count the legit white blues artists on your two hands... George T ain’t one of em.... I salute his success though.

Tab Benoit is awesome if you love the blues. I’ve been fortunate enough to see him play small clubs in Lincoln a couple of times as well. Fortunately America has a lot of great blues musicians and SiriusXM blues channel is a must for real fans

Another KC blues woman: Danielle Nicole (formerly Danielle Schnebelen, who with two of her brothers made up Trampled Under Foot, a legendary KC band.) Do not underestimate her because of her lack of pigmentation or her gender.

That guitar tone just doesn't do it for me. Her voice is good enough, and she's easy on the eyes, but listening to her guitar tone for more than a couple songs would probably drive me nuts. I liked 9 and 4's selection much better.

I have one that some people might like, but it's more so R&B. She's normally considered alt-country. She's very easy on the eyes..

I like Bonamassa and Guy King for blues now, and I have been listening to a lot of John Morelands stuff. Really like it

A give your post a D-. You don't have to be poor black man from Mississippi to be a talented Blues musician, I'm not sure if your comment is more sexist or racist. No idea why you mentioned George T, he doesn't belong in a discussion of talented Blues musicians.

I'm throwing this video in here for KC blues fans. You've probably heard of the all-star group The Healers, which featured Samantha Fish, Jimmy Hall, Kate Moss (not THAT Kate Moss), Danielle Nichole (Schnebelen) and Kris Schnebelen on drums.

Here's Danielle belting out some pretty damn fine blues in a performance at Knuckleheads.

Blues isn’t a music it’s a way of life; a culture... white folks generally don’t rate.... I’ll give a pass to Charlie musselwhite and Johnny winters... and Stevie

Love Knuckleheads in KC. Great venue. I have seen Dave Alvin there 3 times. Saw Steve Earle there a few months ago.
