Salary reductions at Purdue Athletics...

[Maroon Eagle]

#Purdue football coach Jeff Brohm, men’s basketball coach Matt Painter, women’s basketball coach Sharon Versyp and athletics director Mike Bobinski have each voluntarily taken a 20% reduction in salary. Other head coaches/assistants at Purdue taking a 15% reduction.— Brandon Marcello (@bmarcello) August 25, 2020

This is just Phase 1 of 15 with no football revenue.

Quite right. After taking all mandatory unpaid leaves into account, all salaried personnel in my division have taken what amounts to a 10% pay cut this year. This is for a business whose sales have dipped by about 10%, but at no point have we been closed.

Considering that football makes up as much as 70% of the athletic revenue for some schools, and it is being completely shut down this year for the Big10, I’m betting that there are some people out there thrilled with just 15-20% cuts

The head football coach, as well as other head coaches, should be able to absorb a 20% cut without even noticing it.

It's about $1mil cut for Brohm. That's a chunk of change to give up, whether he can make it without it or not.

But he still gets $4M. That's about 100 times what the average Mississipian makes. He won't have any financial issues; if he does, he's not managing his money correctly. Plus, since football season in the Big 10 was canceled, he's not really doing anything.
