These are the only 2 conversations you’ve ever had with Tom Brady super fans:

Them: “...and that’s why Brady is the greatest QB of all time.”
Me: “Yeah, probably.”
Them: “What do you mean, probably?! Who’s better?”
Me: “I dunno, I think Joe Montana might’ve been better.”
Them: “Brady has 6 rings, Montana only has 4.”
Me: “Yeah but who’s to say that Manning, Brees, or Rodgers wouldn’t have won the same or more in that division and with Belichick as their coach?”
Them: “Yeah but they didn’t, and Brady did.”

Me: “Did you see the game last night? Brady played like ****.”
Them: “Tom needs some help! It’s a team sport. He can’t do it all by himself!”

This is a horrible take. Montana played for the 49ers before the salary cap era. Brady played for the previously ****** 17’ing Patriots and won 6 Super Bowls and has now won another with a previously ****** franchise during the salary cap era. I realize you posted this well before the season ended but it was a horrible take before the season. Montana was a HOF quarterback but anyone that would take him over Brady is a lunatic. It is not a real discussion at all.

I’m here for all the smoke. Tom Brady is the greatest winner of all-time. But let’s not pretend like the last 2-3 championships he’s won were runs where he lifted the teams on his shoulders and willed them to victory. This Bucs defense was outstanding over the last 2 months.

But, but, Montana was undefeated in Super Bowls. Brady has lost 3 of them. Since when does losing in the conference playoffs trump losing in the Super Bowl? Brady is the GOAT and there's really no debate. And that's taking nothing away from Montana, who was a great QB.

Actually he did lift the entire team on his shoulders. How you don't see that is amazing.

What? The Bucs were terrible before he came and now they won a Super Bowl with Brady. The Patriots were great with Brady and now they are hot garbage. Brady made both of those teams. Period.

Brady filled a gaping hole in an otherwise good team. He did not lift the team on his shoulders.

That said, pretty incredible that at 43, well past his prime, he's still a slightly above average QB (at least stat wise; the non-stat stuff he brings to the table at this point is probably makes him a better QB than his stats would indicate).

He wasn't the only addition. No one that scored a point in the super bowl was on the team last year. Winfield (rookie safety) and Tristan wirfs (rookie tackle) were absolutely great picks... those 2 players don't get the credit they deserve for the transformation. Brady absolutely was a huge part of the turn around, but there were several key additions

The Bucs go 6-10 this year with every other addition they made minus Brady.

Blaine Gabbert is Brady's backup. He's 5-22 as a starter.

Considering gabbert didn't even play in the nfl in 2019, I doubt they sign him as the starter. Regardless, arguing over hypotheticals is dumb. The Bucs wouldn't have won a super bowl without Brady, but Brady wouldn't have won the super bowl without a great supporting cast. To argue this was all Brady is dumb. To argue Brady didn't play a huge part is dumb.

ETA... if you wanna see what a 1-man team looks like in the super bowl, look at the Broncos in 1986, 1987, and 1989.

So 1 game worse than last year? Stop it. They were 7-9 last season with 6 losses by 1 score

No, I won’t stop it. The addition of Tom Brady is the only reason the rest of the additions mattered at all. He is also the only reason any of the additions wanted to play for Tampa to start with. Tampa without Brady (assuming they have Winston or another comparable player to him at quarterback like they have had for 95% of their history) would have had the same ****** type year that they have been having. If you don’t believe me then go ask New England.
