I would rather have Carr but Wheeler was a second-team All-SEC selection and averaged 13.9 points, 7.3 assists and 1.7 steals. He ranked first in the SEC in assists and fifth nationally. 3pt % not great at 22.5% but his freshmen year it was 32%.

3rd in nation on turnovers is what scares me.
22.5% from 3 and 4.42 turnovers per game which was 3rd in the country. Sorry if I don't want that from my point guard.

When you play for that Georgia team, well, he was probably forcing quite a bit. Hard to know, but I bet his turnover number could be reduced with the right support. He still managed a superb number of assists. He may be pretty good.
If this is the best PG we can get, I hope he comes. If not, let’s hope we get the other guy. However, I don’t necessarily worry about stats at UGA.
I agree. Not liking that stat. Definitely when it is in the 4s. Of course Scotty Pippen Jr. was #11 at 3.82 and I would take him.

If Wheeler, it will be a huge upgrade over Hickman and a big improvement at the point guard position. He will probably lead the nation in assists.

The top things you need to look for in a point guard are ball handling, grit and the ability to find the open guy.
If we had him last season we would have been leaps and bounds better . 5/6 losses possibly. We had nobody that could drive the ball and get an offense started
I don’t get the hate on this guy... Ashton Hagans was a horrible shooter, but he was one of the best pg in the SEC.... This kid will be a lot better with better players surrounded by him.. I’ll take him and Fredricks..
You guys do know that Wheeler shot it 47% overall and 32% from three his freshman year. His percentages dropped his sophomore year due to defenses keying on him and him having to carry the team. He averaged 35 minutes a game...
How about you let Cal decide that. If he thinks that’s the best point guard we can get this year, I’m going with his choice, not yours.
As short as he is, he still averaged 4 rebounds a game which was more than our taller guards and some of our forwards...
You kind of described a first year Ulis. Height isn't everything, esp at PG. I'd rather have a small quick guy who could penetrate and dish.

Wheeler actually has better stats as far as scoring rebounding and assists than Tyler and not that far off with 2 steals a game. Tyler was good but Wheeler is a 2nd team all SEC for a reason. You make it sound like we are comparing Askew with Tyler...

Wrong.Tyler could shoot from outside and his assist to turnover were some of the best.Wheeler is 22% from outside and third in the country for turnovers.
For what it's worth Pratt was on Tom Leach's show this week and very high on Wheeler, I know he have a lot of basketball experts on here but it seems like Cal and co. seem to think he is good enough!
