Probably most people are not familiar, so can you summarize the situation?

He had a 19 year old, lesbian, Muslim student in one of his classes, and wrote about her, by name, in a national conservative publication. She received death threats and harrassment, and he refused to take responsibility for the situation.

if she was concerned about her life, being a lesbian muslim probably isnt the best life choice.

Maybe that's why she wasn't going around publicizing it. He could have gotten her killed. Dude had some serious issues.

That's rough. And very surprising.
He had such good humor about him.
I guess it shows that you never know where people are mentally. Dang.

Yeah, being Muslim and lesbian is a dangerous combination. If true, what he did was at best unethical; might even be illegal.

It's a shame he'll never get to apologize to the young girl whose life he decided to derail to make a cruddy political argument.

If he was one of the millions that Tweet hateful anti-Trump rhetoric daily, he would have been a hero.

I cannot imagine the headspace that requires you to drag Trump into something solely for the sake of sucking up to him -- he's never gonna read this.

I see the liberal staff are rejoicing his “apparent” suicide on their social media. That’s typical.

Well, I’ll just have to acquiesce given your long history of terrible takes. I’ll try to do better next time.

jk, I won’t.

I’m sure I’ve had some real bad takes. I really hope I’ve never blamed someone getting death threats on them being Muslim and gay though.

i didnt blame anyone for anything. if her religion's primary prophet calls for her death, that seems like she needs to pick a side or stop complaining when the beliefs of a prophet she espouses get used against her.

Wow,dude. Seriously? So you are saying it is her fault that she received death threats for being lesbian and muslim. Just wow.

Should Christians who do not follow the teachings of Christ (and best I can tell, that is just about all of them), receive death threats?

And according to his posts she was yelling at and trying to shut down a prolife rally. And I really don’t see how you can be gay and a muslim or proabortion for that matter. Although if she renounces islam she will still be in line for death. That is not Adams fault. Think that would be on Mohammed. Love how the left loves to ruin lives but kick and scream when someone on right does it.

He shouldn’t have named her....regardless of whether she was nuts.

Choosing your religion is by choice is it not. Sharia law is sharia law. You subject yourself to it by being Muslim...it’s a voluntary choice.

So if you join a religion, the religion should adhere to your needs and not vice versa? That seems backwards.

No, she doesn’t “need” to do anything, other than expect her basic rights to privacy to be respected by a superior authority figure. If she wants to be gay, straight, bisexual, vegetarian, humanitarian, liberitarian and at the same time a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Satanist, or nihilist....or if she just wants to spend her weekends alone shoving hot fire place pokers up her ***...that’s her business. It’s certainly not Adams’ business to put her on blast publicly in a news publication for any of it without her consent. If she posted whatever content was in the letter on her public facebook account and then got some backlash, then maybe you could say she had only herself to blame. But that wasn’t the case.

And, it’s a 100% fact that whatever letter was written by Adams to this publication did not need her actual name in order to add anything to the story or narrative, so it could have only been included by him in a vindictive manner to have the exact effect that it did. I’m not sure if she pursued any legal action against him, but I certainly would have.

Besides, what do you care if the life she lives contrasts with her religious teachings? That makes her no different than you or anyone else who purports to follow any form of major organized religion.

I know you got a lot of down votes on this but you are correct. Islam is way harder on gays than christians. Hell it is a death sentence in Iran.

But that is why she got death threats, is it not? A lot of what has been said and done has been very insensitive. Most I disagree with, but not this part. Was she getting death threats for some other reason?

Dive a little deeper into that bit about following the teachings of Christ. If they are ignoring the teachings of Christ, I would argue they likely aren’t Christians, but I’m not their ultimate judge.

I already said his actions were reckless. IMO, she can’t play the victim and support the people that oppress her, but you are certainly right in that she is free to do whatever she likes.

No, she received death threats because:

1) Humans in general are a giant collection of hairy ********, all religions and all creeds.
2) One specific ******* put her personal choices of religion and sexual preference on blast for public consumption.

And regardless of the conflict there, there is absolutely no part of Sharia law, Muslim law, or any legal precedent anywhere (obviously) that says it is OK to personally threaten or execute murder of someone who practices homosexuality as a Muslim. If someone is to be put to death, even in an extremely oppressive state like Iran or even Saudi Arabia, it is to be conducted by the state...not private citizens. And none of that **** is even remotely condoned in this country. The extent to which people are trying to blame the victim here is pretty damn sad.

She didn’t get any death threats for being gay. She was an openly gay person from everything I’ve read. She was the leader of the LGBT group on campus.

She got threats from people online because mike Adams wrote an article that questioned if she was a jihadist. That’s when trouble started for her.

That is why I even commented on your post to begin with. I assumed since you commented on this that you actually knew her problems were not because she was gay. Which is why I thought it was a terrible take that you would post that.

But regardless of any of that, in America, I would hope you could be gay and any religion you want and not have to deal with death threats. And if you do get death threats, you shouldn’t have to be told “well maybe you shouldn’t be gay and Muslim”.

No, she was an openly gay person. She started getting online threats when the professor wrote an article questioning if she was a jihadist.

my statement is self explanatory. she is a gay muslim. if she worried about death threats of any kind, probably a poor choice of religion and sexual orientation because HER religion doesnt treat Her sexual orientation very kindly.

But her death threats did not come as a result of being a gay Muslim. Why is that relevant in the discussion?

And how many Muslims have been killed in America for being gay?

my response was based on LilSebastian's breakdown of the situation which read:

"He had a 19 year old, lesbian, Muslim student in one of his classes, and wrote about her, by name, in a national conservative publication. She received death threats and harrassment, and he refused to take responsibility for the situation."

follow along with the dialogue and it wouldnt be that confusing.

I was not saying people who ignore all the teachings of Christ, just the so-called Christians who pick and choose which ones to ignore, such as the one about treating the poor and down trodden (and just people not like us, different race, religion, etc.) with kindness, care and compassion. And, sadly, there are a lot of such "Christians" out there.

No, they shouldn't. And they certainly wouldn't get them from Christ Himself.

Should Christians who do not follow the teachings of Christ (and best I can tell, that is just about all of them), receive death threats?

One religion espouses forgiveness for sins, and in fact, even had its Chosen One sacrifice Himself for the world's benefit... while the other calls for the death penalty if you are gay. Or if you are a woman and show too much skin. Or if you disobey your father. Or if you draw a cartoon of their prophet. Or if you disagree with their teachings in almost any way.

Pretty big stretch comparing Jesus to Muhammad there, big guy.

i see a lot of overflowing drop-offs for salvation army and goodwill (so much so that we were told to come back later), overflowing food and monetary donations at my church, and random kindness of strangers at major stop lights where the homeless collect near where I live. i guess you only see what you want to see.

Almost everyone i know claims to be a Christian, but 99% don't follow the teaching of Christ too much degree.

I never said I was confused. I’m well aware of what you were responding to.

Do you believe it’s this girls own fault that she received threats?

well, if you are telling me that they sin...a lot, that is expected. Christians shouldnt be expected to be perfect. if people were perfect, Christ would not be needed and as you illustrate, he is desperately needed. Theologically, the only requirement one needs to be called a Christian is that one truly believes that Jesus is the son of God sent to Earth for our sake and to whom you cling for salvation. Faith is a journey that never ends...it takes a lot of failure, but if one is a true Christian, you are always trying to be more Christ like.
