Yeah, I think the "AI will replace all the __________ jobs" fear is a bit overrated. Just like when factory work started and machines and robots.
Most jobs will just be changed by AI but jobs really won't be eliminated at the rate people fear...
Remember, no jobs means no money which means no one is buying the products.
ESPN is paying Stephen A. Smith $20 million a year and Pat McAfee $30 million a year with a $30 million raise being negotiated. They might cut guys like this but they are overpaying the high end guys.
McAfee has done more for espn than anyone else since the early guys who got it going. He’s the guy they needed and he’s delivering. Love him or hate him he’s bringing a lot of eyes back to espn.
completely agree.. I think we are already seeing pushback on ai generated content online. Some of it is getting better, but is anyone really buying that AI based Thai Chi walking plan? (I have been getting spammed by those ads for a solid 8 months now)
robotics manufacturing will just continue to become more automated.. take for instance a local bottling plant that puts out 50 thousands cans of coke or whatever every day, and there are like 3 people that work there, and it's been that way for years now.
I think we might see the work week shift to a 4 day / 32 hour week though.
I actually don't doubt SportsCenter goes with AI eventually. China is now going all out to compete with Hollywood via AI. Will it work? (Shrug). No idea. But The incentive is there to make it work and I think SportsCenter is more feasible than a feature film, so if China pulls it off with blockbusters - it's probable in the future.

That's crazy to tell someone mid program they are being released. As far as AI, it can do highlights but won't ever be able to react live to anything with a personality that anyone would want to watch.
All these big tech companies have to get us to fear for our jobs where AGI and sky net are going to destroy us to get investors to keep funding their companies. Their biggest fear is knowing eventually AI will be able to run on phones locally without the need for large data centers. That's what China is racing towards. Much like when computers used to be so large they couldn't fit in a room and can now fit in your pocket. Eventually AI will be so optimized that most people won't ever need to pay for it.
It's like trying to sell someone a Ferrari to go buy groceries when a cheap Toyota will do just fine for most people. Most people or companies won't ever need state of the art AI and these data centers will be obsolete except for hosting social media and massive surveillance programs.

Not that I am defending him . Because I really never liked him personally. But I agree with him on the non player comment. To many of these reporters that probably never played in HS let alone the Pros are trying to give their views on how a player should act from a player’s point of view.
Most people are not smart enough to know the difference between AI slop and actual content. Or they are too careless to notice. And it's getting harder to tell the difference, but about half the new videos and news stories that come from generic sources are AI crap. I hate the stuff. I would love to see this pushback on AI content you are talking about but I haven't seen anything. These media companies care mostly about engagement, feeding people more and more crap that people get suckered into clicking on.

Yes. Most Nascar drivers have never driven a car before they join the circuit. They just read a book about it, maybe two. This afternoon I am going to watch a YouTube video on Nuclear Reactor Maintenance. Then I figure on going down to Brownville. I hear they pay well.
I see a lot of friends share videos that they didn’t know were AI and when they find out it was AI, they say it was still funny. As long as they find it interesting, I don’t think a lot of people will care.

He was talking specifically about a player on how was playing the game and doing or not doing specific things in that game.and Yes in my opinion you need to have played the game if you are going to talk about a player that way . And as far as rhule or any coach it depends on how you are criticizing them . If you say he just sucks as a coach because he has 59-60 record that’s fine. But if you are criticizing them for something specific in the way they are approaching their job you have never walked in those shoes you are off base IMO
