Really great news. Now Rutgers and Princeton need to get together and do the same.
IMHO, we should always play those two schools every year.
We can rotate among the other D1 schools in NJ.

I always loved and hated playing Princeton back in the day. The games were well attended and meant a lot
It has been many years since Pete Carril coached and from my view point the rivalry between the two schools died off considerably over time since his day
Today the game would not draw much more interest than playing FDU. At least to the newer fans of both programs
Sure some old timers would like to think differently but it would be based on old memories
today we see the SHU game still being an intense and much wanted game to win. On both sides passions run pretty deep
We really don’t have to have a Princeton game but the Hall game should be played each year
Jordan Walker just announced his intent to transfer. Will be interested to see if you guys are interested in our #!$@ players… LOL.

I never understood that reference to be honest with you. Just having a little fun with the guys that were trashing us and the New Big East.
Have said all along that both schools and it up in the best possible situation. Actually, the rivalry will have more juice now that we are in different conferences as well. A good rivalry is good for both of us.
SHU has now lost 2 guards, Gordon & Walker in the last few days. Many of their fans were counting on them for playing the point. They now only have McKnight the transfer from Sacred Heart and the freshman Nelson. Will they be in a dangerous situation against pressure defense? I would never want Walker at RU.
Gordon is a great kid and made some key contributions, but he has a ceiling and playing more time would expose his flaws. Walker is a massive head case. See ya...I think there is another move coming that will bring in a PG. if not, yes, I'd be worried.

One of my best friends at work was a Hall grad--and a fellow wisea*s. We often had lunch at a nearby watering hole and would trade reasonably good-natured barbs in season. Can remember liking the old Hall teams with Walter Dukes and Richie Reagan. Yeah, that long ago.
Think the antagonism on both sides runs too deep for it ever to be a "friendly" rivalry--but that's OK. So long as it stays a fixture on the schedule, bitter or friendly--either works.

Two of my best friends and golf buddies are RU guys (FB) and we’re beyond ribbing and trash talk. I guess that stuff goes away with age...
I don't get as pumped up about the SH rivalry as some others seem to, but it is a local rivalry, and Rutgers, Princeton and Seton Hall are the only schools in NJ that don't play in a minor conference. Other NJ schools like NJIT, Monmouth, or St Peters, don't warrant more than occasional rotating schedules. So if Rutgers wants a local series, the choices are really only SH and Princeton.

Could not agree more...there’s not much choice in NJ so that’s about it, though I’d prefer to play Princeton every year instead of SHU. In every aspect that counts PU > SHU
I hope so. I have a feeling we might be getting someone that's tied to an upcoming assistant coaching change.
I mean, besides the upgraded recruiting, the improvement of young players such as eugene, the buzz around guys sitting out like Johnson and kiss, and the continued work on the practice facility....sure.
I like that Nowell kid from Patrick's school and thought either RU or SHU should have pursued, but apparently Pike prefers height/length in the backcourt. Looks like he just committed to Arkansas Little Rock
Perhaps the end of the Fred Hill era is looming and will be part of a reorganization...maybe Tavon Jones joins Colicchio and SHU.....there are always moving parts....although there were rumblings that Jones needed to prep or go JUCO....

Seriously Glad for both schools that we continue to play each other. With Pike, and last year’s win, this rivalry is about to really take off!

That would be possible although it depends on the definition of highly regarded....Top 150 would be my equation of that comment...grad transfer for a 1 year rental would not be my thought of highly regarded.
Actually...what excited me beating the hall last year was that they were a NCAA and a good win

We considered it a big game in the late 80s and early 90s because we were stuck in the Atlantic ten... but it really was only a rivalry when we were playing twice a year in the big east
I don’t consider it a rivalry anymore. A good out of confrence game...yes. But it just doesn’t have the juice for me anymore as a long time
