There is a segment of the fan base that keeps praising recruiting when verbal commitments are announced year after year.What has happened is filling rosters not bringing in B1G talent which is needed to successfully compete.
Yeah, it’s been brutal. Folks are just used to the crappy recruiting and accept it.
Bad coaching signs:

Ash needs to go. We need a real coach who can recruit. Unfortunately he will not go anywhere since if we fire him we owe him 10 Million.
We all know Ash can't recruit. But can he coach? No one expected a Rutgers win. No one thought this would be a close game. But can this team actually score one point in three years against OSU? Anything?
A loss to Kansas next week would not be surprising after this disaster.
It's as if some of the fans on the board don't understand that everyone gets commits and every team will eventually fill out their recruiting class. People will say they love the hudl highlight reel and ignore the lack of P5 offers.
This is the worst performance I've ever seen. In the Michigan game at least we had a TD called back!!

Leaving somebody completely unblocked to hit the QB is a missed assignment, vs Ohio State or Texas State

Taking out Sitkowski is the absolute worst idea.
He needs to play and to make pass attempts. We were never going to win this game. This needs to be used as a training exercise.
They need to tell him:
"Your not coming out of this game. Not for a single snap. Start throwing the ball down the field. If it isnt there, throw it anyway down the field. 75 % of the play calls will be passes. You keep throwing."
Coaches need to instil confidence in him so he doesnt get discouraged.
