45-42 gotta love it right now. RU weathered the pressure and figured it out. Youth led the way....2nd half figures to feature alot of adjustments by both teams...did Eugene even score?

Spread shots around and RU will have a big 2nd half to match the 1st half.....

great first half considering the pressure they’re facing. Mathis, McConnell and Harper seem to be thriving in this type of pace. Aside from the fact that Illini should have about 30 fouls, can’t complain too much

What do we have, like 75% of our normal full game or avg?

Guys, if you were around for the RU run and gun you'd really be living this.

Caleb 5-6 12 points, 2-2 from 3, leading rebounder with 5

Mathis 4-8....9 points

Myles 4-4....8 points

Geo and Ron have 6

8 RU turnovers...but I think only one in the last 5 minutes

RU outboarding them 23-17

Illinois just 4-13 from 3, RU 4-9

who would have ever guessed how high scoring this would be...

RU is winning because they are playing better, they are exploiting the Illinois defense and finishing...and they are playing pretty good d on the other end

Usually I would be worried we will tire out in the second half of a game with a pace like this. However, geo, gene, kiss, doorson and more spent a LOT of time on the bench in the first.

I know you took a lot of heat about your posts about Eugene and the ball stopping..I think you were right and once he came out of the game today it seemed like we went on that run..down 7 to up 5.....now we have to figure out a way to get him involved in the game but continue to spread the offense

We’re up by 3 points and Eugene has ZERO. McConnell is the MVP so far

alot of guys playing well led by Caleb...I called for his early yank because he didnt look comfortable the first two possession, boy was I wrong about that. He adjusted and now flourishing.

and lets not overlook what Mathis and Myles are doing right now....Myles came alive late.

Plug Young and Mulcahy in with these guys and we'll be able to run all day.

this might finally be the game where you see everyone on the same page in having a solid game...only Eugene who sat didnt really contribute anything.

Lot to like. Need to cut down on TO's and finish around the rim. Won't shoot that well in second half.

i think once we figured them out it became evident to the freshman. A high pressure D like that will cause panic and TOs. Also, having our two vets(Gene / Geo) with 2 fouls quick and on the bench and were still up? Ill take it.

Lets set the tone in the second half, hopefully some of the handsy stuff getrs called on Illini.

Like how we are playing today. Just wish we were better at making layups. If I was Pike, I'd have Carter spend a lot of time each practice on layups and put backs.

I’ll say this for Harper. The kid is awfully strong with the ball for a freshman.

I would love to see Harper drive more and not settle for threes. When he drove he did well.

Harper should be the one driving...Geo should setting up for threes.

Best first half offense against B1G opponent.Illinois is a foul prone team who probably caused at least 7 fouls that were not called.McConnell was outstanding because he can create and make shots off the dribble as well a make stationary 3 pointers. Can Rutgers withstand Illinois pressure for another 20 minutes and still match baskets? If the answer is yes,Rutgers can win this road game .

Just tell him.." Yoh know what Freeman did to kill, our offensive flow last year? Don't do that. You're at you best on the move or with the ball deep under the rim"

If you would've told me EO took the collar in the first half, but that we'd be up 3, I'd have said you were nuts, but that's where we are. Great first half by Caleb, Harper, Mathis, Johnson. Like shooting 55%, but 8 TOs is killing us. We can definitely win this one.
