It's one thing to say it, another to actually teach it competently so it's 2nd nature. That's not the case with our team.

Ok. He doesn't do that...

We'd still be fumbling if Marcus Allen were our RB cause of coaching..

Stay the course because its been working

So if we score a few touchdowns is the quarterback entrenched for life? What curve are we grading on?

Can anyone really are you that Oden wouldn't run the ball better or Rettig wouldn't throw the ball better?

The only guy I trust in our mens athletic program is our AD, our wrestling coach and our bball coach. And I include every coach and player.

We're moving the ball. Laviano has even completed some passes. Stop with the turnovers and we're in good shape to win this one.

Great defensive coach? Illinois defense sucks dude they just gave up 34 points to Purdue. Lmao get outta here

U think a coach can turn around a team in 1 season..he just got there..

He's been considered a great defensive coach..

Again, as I've been arguing, u r only as good as your talent.

Some players figure it out for themselves. Other, less confident because they realize they are less talented, need it to be reinforced so it's innate. Every one of our players fall into this category.

neither team should attempt a pass in the 2nd half.

The officials missed 2 ineligible down field on Illinois when they wanted to run screens and the lineman went down field and the QB threw the ball beyond the line of scrimmage.

Ash is slowly reminding me of Pelini. Good assistant but not a head coach. Too stubborn to do anything but what he teaches rather than adjust to talent in the team. Use all the timeouts on defense because he thinks every play should be stopped for no gain or a lose.

Illinois defense will start to tire of run the ball a lot now. Even if have to punt keep running the ball and for God's sake hang on to it.

Ok. They don't coach ball protection. Case closed.

Don't know that I've been this depressed ever.

Holy **** do I need to report you for suicidal tendencies? Step away from the ledge compadre. RU football has never been great man. Maybe a good year here or there, but never great. I didn't realize this was so life or death for you!

Or the coaches do that and they still can't execute.

How do you poor coaching guys explain so few penalties?

Guys look at the big picture. We have a clean program with good academics. Only fools believed that we were going to be competitive in this conference without the administration spending a tsunami of money on a coach and athletic department turning a blind eye to recruiting. Then yes you would be a powerhouse in two to three short years.

It's clearly both. But Ash is doing himself no favors by constantly running Laviano out there and for hiring a 28 year old inexperienced OC. Those are 2 EXTREMELY bad looks and only causes questioning...

[QUOTit...we ="Caliknight, post: 2410203, member: 588"]No. The biggest telling sign of coaching is penalties. We are the 3rd least penalized team in the league. Beyond that, at this level, it's recruiting. Players make plays. We make no plays because we have no players.[/QUOTE]
Stop It..the offensive gameolan is deplorable...thats on coaching...dont spin it

Not a bad look at all. Mehringer is getting great praise, and is a very well known commodity on coaching. As for Laviano, he's the best we have.

Anyone with half a clue knows what he is working with..and isn't questioning him.

Offensive game plan is fine. Only 2 punts..would sign up for that any day.

Makes Ash and staff look bad if Laviano is still the best option...if they haven't either developed or recruited anyone that is better capable of moving the ball or running this offense. They've had spring practice, all summer and now half of a season to develop a better option, plenty of freshman QBs Playing all over the country

Plenty of freshman playing at schools that were always really good. Wait till Lewis next year. This year, we have a very small shot to win any game.
