Our receivers actually run toward the DBs instead of away. Melton would've been wide open if he ran left instead of straight toward the end zone. No adjustment whatsoever.
The routs are pre defined because the ball is thrown a second or two before the receiver gets there. Melton can't decide to run a different rout in the middle of the play.

The stadium yellowjackets are preparing for a fan mutiny too. There's one at every stairway, looking very concerned. "Fan experience" has been maximized.

Gio isn’t a b10 starting QB in an ideal situation but he’s leaps and bounds better than Sitkowski. Unfortunately under this coaching staff, he will never progress to the point that he can start. If ash returns next year I hope he transfers to a school that develops its players.

I feel really bad for the prime minister of Botswana who has to be subject to torture. This could create an international incident.

Ash wasn’t wrong when he arrived wanting to install the spread, but just chose so poorly when it came to DM. That affected recruiting and in turn that one mistake sealed his coffin.
Yes and he compounded that with more bad or inappropriate OC hires, like I said confused about how to implement an offense.

You see how I mention Grinch here at times, he's got a nice long offensive lineage in his career even though he's a defensive coach. A good amount of influence and connections that you'd hope would help....Leach, Chip Kelly, Gary Pinkel his uncle, former teammates Matt Cambpell/Jason Candle and now Ryan Day/Kevin Wilson. Ash doesn't really have that for the most part except whatever he may have had at OSU, I think probably Herman which is probably how we ended up with DM.

I like to see who these guys coached with and what influences they may have so you might have an idea of which direction they go when filling the important positions of coordinators and how seriously they take the other side of the ball. For a defensive coach it's important to know his offensive influence and vice versa for an offensive coach.

This is unfair. I've been talking to them as I wonder the stadium, they are just doing their job and of all the things to complain about this is not one.

He and Herman go back to Iowa State under Rhodes. Probably due to Herman that he got the hire at Ohio State. That said, surprised he got nothing from Bielema.

I don't think Coach Ash can survive after this season. RU is going to have major blow outs and probably shut out the final stretch of the season.

It's not a different route, just an adjustment to give Goo a chance. Ball wasn't in the air yet, but 2 defenders ended up where the ball ended up. It might be the way plays are drawn up, but we have no business throwing to spots with our QBs.

Bielema is another prostyle smash mouth kind of guy, not an influence I'd want either for us. For Iowa sure, for us no.

I want a background with some spread coaches with gravitas and the best tree for that is Leach....just look Seth Littrell, Graham Harell, Kingsbury, Sonny Cumbie, Sonny Dykes, etc.. and their offshoots...defensively Dave Aranda and Alex Grinch have been under him so you'd hope that would influence them and hopefully they'd understand what they need to do on that side of the ball and have connections to implement what they want on the offense as well.

The fact that they didn’t give up coming out of the lockerroom - I’ll give that to Ash. One of the few positives today.

Oh my God who is number 71 for us? He just got flung to the side like a rag doll. I keep rewinding it to watch it again and again

Spread is definitely the best avenue. Having a coach that is confused about offense is the problem.

We haven't even had 1 earnest attempt at installing a spread with an actual spread coach with some gravitas. No one from the Leach/Briles tree or something similar during this McNulty hire. I had suggested names like Graham Harrell UNT OC, Sterlin Gilbert USF OC last year if more experienced names weren't available.

It is the best avenue for a school like us even it failed I would go back to it again with someone else. But we haven't even given it a real earnest attempt just a half hearted bungled approach and that's being kind.

I mentioned this a couple times today. WSU had a nice showing against USC last night on the road, lost a close one. WSU under Leach is 2-2 against USC in their last 4 meetings. You know what Leach's recruiting rankings are? Mostly in the 50s with a high of 69 and low of 46. I didn't look up USC but I'll bet they're top 15 top 10 most years, yet WSU can compete with them.

Most feasible system to implement matters, coaches that may be able to do more with less matter and identifying the players that can fit that system matter.

Ash signed his pink slip the moment he (and the fanbase) got scared and panicked and hired Kill.
