It's a fine schedule. It's not good but it shouldn't get brought up as a talking point against us so long as we don't lose a Q4 game. Columbia and Bucknell will be better than their 2022 ratings. I assume there will be one more tomato can matchup to be added.
Go 9-2 against that non-conference schedule and 10-10 in the Big Ten gives us a puncher's chance, depending on how the conference is this season.

FWIW, 2nd highest Torvik rating (62) of all the non-conf opponents. Seton Hall is 56, Wake Forest is 85, and Rutgers 55.
Just be glad we are catching Temple early in the season Nov 18, think Rutgers 2019-20 when Caleb, Tez, Myles, RHJ became Sophomores. They are going to be a team to watch the latter part of the season, a lot of Freshmen and Sophomores are going to be Sophomores and Juniors in 22-23.
Temple's rating is screwed up because of the projection on Khalif Battle. Based on a small sample size -- he was terrific in 7 games last year before getting hurt, but was bad the two years before that) his computer has lost its mind and is basically projecting Battle to be as good as Keegan Murray.
If you swap out Battle for Caleb Daniels (who IMO is about his equal but doesn't have an insane projection) then Temple's rating falls to 87th.

Do they give each player a rating or are you basing that off of the 18 ppg they're projecting?
It’s a meh game becusse it’s in a casino in Connecticut which loosely tied to a tier 3 event.

His offensive rating projection is 126 on 24% usage. Only Keegan Murray hit both of those marks last season, and he did it on 77% minutes played (Battle's projection is 81% of minutes played).

No idea how good he’ll be, but they went 10-7 in a deep AAC conference without Battle and return everyone. Cincy finished 8th (7-11) - they beat Illinois by 20 and lost at Arkansas by 6. East Carolina finished 9th - they lost to Oklahoma by 5. The AAC wasn’t terrible.

or don’t say, there’s every reason to be optimistic Temple will be competitive again next season.
I like to match up but this is dumb. Us and Temple in Connecticut? Probably won’t even draw 5000 people.
I know the NET is important, but I think more in terms of post season prospects. The 3 teams that finished ahead of Temple in their conference were all in the bubble conversation. Had Temple beaten us (let’s say we played them instead of UMass or DePaul) last season, they may have been in the NIT at large picture. There’s a reasonable chance of them being a post season team. Arguably as much as Wake Forest who loses 4 starters. That’s all I hope for. If we’re not going to play a ton of losable games, I just want there to be a chance that all of the 4 teams we do play are in post season contention. BC has been dreadful for many years and there’s nothing to indicate they will be better next season. Really do not want to play them in the challenge for this reason.
Temple Rutgers in AC would be a great game to attend. At Mohegan, not so much...

Yeah it doesn’t make much sense to go there to play Temple when NJ has a nearby gambling hotel area that’s central to both schools. It’s still better than going to Canada to play St Bonnie’s though.
From a hype perspective, yes. But this really could’ve been a lot worse from a resume standpoint.
We should’ve scheduled Lafayette again. It’s the only quad 4 team that I wouldn’t be wondering if it was going to be a WTF loss we seem to have every year during spring training.
Love this game at AC Convention center which would be great for multiple reasons.. but ok.

I don’t understand - why isn’t it a tournament format? That’s not a terrible field. Pike should be pushing for that. Fill out the schedule with a game the next day.
It’s not bad collection of 4 teams from a resume perspective. A neutral game vs. either Iona or Vermont would be better than whatever home cupcake we’re planning for the last game on the schedule. Regardless I thought you get an extra game allowed on your count if you play in a tourney? If the arena is free the next day they should play a championship game and a losers bracket. Already there. Why not?

This gets dumber by the minute. Why on earth isn’t it an 8 team bracket Friday to Sunday? 1 - Providence. Vs 8 Vermont, 2- Miami vs 7 Iona, 3 Rutgers vs 6 Temple, 4 Maryland vs 5 St Louis. We only play Maryland once this season. Who cares?

I just don’t understand why you would have 2 unassociated small events at the same venue on back to back days. It makes no sense. It would be a nice field if they were combined.

There’s nothing wrong with the Temple game or the other 2 teams in the “field”. Vermont and Iona are solid mid majors.
Tournament brackets are more interesting though - it seems like it would’ve been easy enough to structure it that way is all. Oh well.
Iona and Temple are already playing in exempt tournaments so they couldn't do another one.
