1. It is baffling that Pike took the reins from Baker and gave them to Young? With that being said the missing of young in my eyes is 95-100% defensive only. I wasn’t a fan of the way out offense looked at the end of the season.
2. If you go back to the video tape, you can trust me here, I agreed 100% with you regarding Happ. I was probably the only one or one of a few.

I agree a lot with your last paragraph. I am worried about next year. That doesn’t mean some of the new pieces can’t/won’t exceed my low expectations. The Hyatt that is advertised is not like anything we have on the roster. Agee, despite possible deficiencies, appears to bring an element to the 5 we have not had. Maybe Jones is FINALLY the 37+% 3 point shooter with volume that makes people pay for being a half second late on close outs.

What percentage of the game was Myles on the floor with foul trouble. 1%?
pretty hard to quantify that, however; 1% would be an average of 14 seconds a game. While average would be a poor metric for thinking about this since it’s a factor in some games and not others, there were plenty of games over the past 2 years where he played at least 3-4 minutes (and in some cases more) worrying about fouls. It’s not only time playing with 4 fouls, it’s playing early in the second half with 3 fouls, or playing in the first half with 2 (and sometimes even less). When Cliff was injured it was a factor even earlier (one early foul and he had to be more careful because we had nobody).

Greene - I know you don’t love Geo’s game but I think JY taking over the point was more about JY’s shortcomings in moving without the ball in the half court sets than about Geo. JY was very ineffective as a 2 in the half court game because he’s a poor half court player. Not his game. You can’t pin this on Geo simply because Pike tried a number of options (Paul and Caleb bringing up the ball) and the same issue held true. JY’s strength was transition and breaking down the defense in iso which was much easier to do when he himself brought up the ball and controlled flow.

If that makes you feel better, than OK. Geo is a fish out of water at the 2. He needs the ball in his hands, with a dribble to score.

All we need to do is look at post game threads after games and get a more fair assessment what 2020-21 was about. This downplaying what Young and Myles meant to us is not being fair or just flat out forgetting.

There were a handful of games where we’ll miss JY’s defense. It’s not as many as you think though and we lost most of them (if not all) anyway. It’ll be a factor against teams with a really good, fast PG to cover.

Nope - it doesn’t make me feel better or worse about anything. it’s just my assessment of why Pike likely made the change at the point that you called attention to from Geo to JY. He moved Geo to the 2 at that time (he didn’t bench him). Geo had a good year at the 2 as a frosh alone side Sanders by the way so to say point blank that he can’t play 2 seems pretty unfair.

I was posting with a flip phone at that time
Fine - but how much 2 guard have you really seen him play since then? As a sophomore the kid was forced to play 34 mpg as a first time PG surrounded by all frosh. When he shifted over to the 2, it was alongside an even less experienced point guard in frosh Caleb. What would you expect? As a junior he played mostly point again until after the injury where Pike worked him in while he was finding his legs. Then was his senior year and he was injured again.

I just hope Geo and Ron can both stay healthy the entire year of 2021-22. Some are killing Geo when he really was injured all of last year. As far as I know he was pretty good when he was 100 % healthy. We shall see.

Both stay healthy, we should be way above the bubble..projections are conservative due to a lot of unknowns, Miller, Jones are unproven, & Cliff’s improvement is unknown. I also have high expectations from Hyatt. Big game experience already, versatile..RU will exceed all pre-season expectations!
