USCe has always filled their stadium regardless of being crappy or not. Yet, stupid asses in our fan base think not showing for games will send the correct message to Cohen/Keenum. It also sends a message to potential hires. Anything that can harm State seems what the emotional pitchfork crowd wants. This board reads like a bunch of spoiled 5 year olds who had their toys taken away. Very few with anything resembling a rational thought. The majority of you claim you want a successful head coach here but yet you want to fire a guy before or at the end of year two. You think another coach isn’t going to see that as not letting Moorhead get his pieces in place before getting axed? If we were the **** show UT is, fine. But we’re not. Nobody liked yesterday’s outcome and most everybody can see we have some spots that need attention and probably a different assistant here or there. Moorhead may not be what we need but firing him after year two and not showing for games will do more harm than giving him year three to get things straightened out. And those that think he will set us back ten years, STFU. If croom didn’t sink us 10 years then Moorhead won’t either.
I'm not saying Moorhead should be fired, but I do have an issue with the idea no other coach will come here if we do, as if it sends the signal we aren't being fair to Joe. Had this been an absolute rebuild of a program from the depths of hell...then yes, it would send a bad message. But I have to believe any confident coaching candidate we might approach would consider Joe took over a program that was in good shape, then vastly under-performed. They would see what many see, that we appear to be having problems beyond the change to a new system, beyond the loss of proven talent, beyond Tutorgate.
Sure, those things can & do cause us to struggle in areas, but again, it sure seems to go beyond problems one would expect. One worrisome thing I noticed in Saturday's game was Hill on the sideline after GS fumbled on that run inside the AU 10. You catch the way Joe (and another coach) tried to stop him and talk to him, yet Kylin yanked himself away, refusing to even look at, much less acknowledge Joe? To me that's a
really bad sign. I don't think it matters how passionate a player is, or how much he hates losing...you can't have players openly disrespecting coaches, especially the HC. That looks bad for both.
To be clear, I don't have an issue with your opinion it would be a bad idea to fire him so quickly. It's a valid opinion as far as I'm concerned. But I do take issue with your statements that the other side of that coin is the domain of, "stupid ***, pitchfork-carrying spoiled brats", and that firing Joe sooner would automatically send the message you suggest to other candidates. I'd say it's at least debatable.
