Woohoo!!! Wow, what a game and what a way to finally win a big road game against a very good team, led by our leaders. Geo with 19/6, including the big shots at the end, Harper with 15/6 including that late trey, Yeboah with 11/5, mostly in the first half when we needed a spark and JY with 10 off the benc, including the first 5 in OT and that monster dunk and one on the foul. And Mathis with a quiet 8/6, but great D and Carter with a great effort (6/6) with Myles in foul trouble, as he only had 2/6. Didn't get too much from PM or Caleb, but the bench gets shorter in crunch time and they're just not playing that well.
And really, really strong defense and effort just about the whole game, which is something we've lacked on the road - we really held them in check. Stat of the game is probably us shooting 9-18 from deep and holding them to 7-29. We needed that to overcome their 17-21 from the line, while we only shot 8-14 (19 fouls on us and 17 on them - no real issues with the refs today - calls seemed to even out for me) and had 16 TOs to their 11. But what heart and grit on this team. We should also all say thanks to Hunter for missing that FT at the end of regulation which kept us in it.
So, now there's 0.0% chance we don't dance. I love it. I'm so friggin' happy right now I could hug and kiss everybody and give them my coronavirus, lol. First time in 29 years boys and girls. Will see you there, assuming we're allowed to attend. Thinking we're a 9/10 seed right now with that huge road win and the rest of our great wins. Don't really care though. Win that first game and then let's slay some big dragon to make the Sweet 16 and then...
One more thing: thanks Coach Pikiell and the entire staff for saving Rutgers Basketball and thanks to Pat Hobbs for making the hire. And to all of you crazy folks I've cheered and argued and cursed with for so many years: It's been a blast. Now let's go get some more wins!!
