i wouldnt say that, its just that there were not many teams we were ahead of that didnt lose. RU lost to a ranked team, you dont get penalized too much for that. The grouping from 14 to 17 is pretty close and RU is just up 9 points on Illinois. I thought RU would be 14 or 15 so was pretty surprised why our fans were thinking that RU was going to get dissed in the polls.

I think Illinois' 2 wins probably helped us.

When do NET rankings start?

not sure, others years it was already released or we had sites that had replica NET rankings, with the new system there is radio silence

I was close said we would only drop 2 spots to 13. Big 10 is taking overthe National conversation besides Gonzaga . Having watch a lot of Big 10 hoops over the weekend , there was some high level play and high level shot making. Defense was pretty good across the board too. Going to be a fun wild ride.

I called it. I said 14th was about where Rutgers belonged.

13 of the 20 B1G games on the RU schedule as of today are vs ranked teams. I don't anticipate 9 teams staying in the Top 25, but certainly can see 9 in the Top 35 to 40 all year long.

I doubt he considered what other teams did during the same time. Some fans judge Rutgers against Rutgers' past and not its peers.
Don’t bother. He is clueless. I guess he thinks a ton of Big 10 teams too generous too. Maybe Michigan State should be ranked 40 and Duke 45 and UNC 50?

A bunch of the teams below us all lost. Why would they jump us when our loss was on the road against a ranked team? 14 was the rank that made the most sense

Smaller conferences dont get their OOC games for a chance to boost their SOS and get Q1 or Q2 games. That's the logic right? Makes sense
Which doesn’t make it “fair”. Emphasis on my quotes. As a result GRF is predicting a not Norma tournament

its fair, you still have autobids from smaller leagues so we lose a couple of spots from smaller conferences, its not a big deal

Looks like he's got some type of ax to grind. He has a post in another thread saying that RU has a lot to prove and are not better than last year's team. Says RU is a terrible road team. Sample size is still small, but last I checked we're .500 on the road this season. Some "fans" have no problem going out of their way to downplay anything RU accomplishes.

You've been saying not normal for a while and its a good call that I agreed with but even more so now. At large bids would seem to skew toward power conferences and the B1G is the best P5 conference. 9 or 10 B1G schools seems realistic bc of it

I think we are looking at 1 or 2 sites

Nine ranked teams must be an AP record. And no Indiana!
Interesting observation about Indiana. Once a traditional blue blood it no longer has the cache it once did. Is it just not finding another Bobby Knight or is it something else? Just wondering if Butler , Notre Dame and other schools have syphoned off the local Indiana talent.

Honestly, their 2002 NC Game run was somewhat of a surprise, and they haven’t been a “Blue Blood” since Knight was fired. There really isn’t much of a debate, either. They’d still be #1 in the Big Ten historically, but teams like OSU, Illinois, Michigan and especially MSU made up a ton of ground between 2002 and now on them. Their indisputable brand name won’t even survive forever; there are simply a lot of people alive who saw IU during their golden years ... but not that many under about 35.
