We will have to see how this turns out -
- it does not seem to optimize the utilization of his potential
- or his potential is not as optimal as some think it is !

Temple is rising quickly, no matter how much we want to deny it, so maybe this is just the new normal

Good choice for him. I think he can have good numbers in the AAC. Typically not many great defenses to face and some number padding opponents in conference. But still the AAC was kind of legitimate this year with a couple good teams at the top, it's a conference kind of like the old Big East where it maintained some legitmacy for a few years due to really only a couple good teams, but then ultimately broke up or be relegated into an afterthought.

Good luck to him. Better opportunity to play at temple than lsu which might chew him up and spit him out. Seems like a classy kid.

Definitely a good pickup for TU, though this CFB thing is a marathon, not a sprint.

Woz, gotta say I truly don't get your deal lately. Did you learn anything from our own history? Today's proclamations of glory are tomorrow's afterthoughts, especially if/ when they don't turn out like you think. 10 years ago BE Football was 5-0 in bowls with 3 teams in the Top 12. Today it doesn't exist. 5 years ago Savon Huggins was named to numerous preseason All Big-East teams and annoited the 'new face of Rutgers Football' after a 4-8 season in '10...as much as I appreciate Savon's work here, it just didn't turn out the way we thought it would.

..,time will tell all things....

Good luck to him.....but, PITT was a better option.

He was a goner as soon as Mehringer was hired. All the reports about him wanting Russo was all PR because the new staff could not just drop him. he had to be the one to decommit., Look for the other Pro style QB at Rutgers to leave. Bring in the dual threats needed to make this offense click. The fact that the staff has 4 Dual threats offered should not be a surprise...that was the plan.

He was gone as soon as we decided to go to a spread offense. good luck to him, seemed like a good kid. we need a qb that runs in our offense.. it is what it is...

...didn't think him to LSU really made sense based on their offensive philosophy. Not really that surprised to see him end up at Temple (not saying Temple is the greatest or anything like that, but it's his 'hometown' school and they run the offensive style he wants to play in). Surprised no one else offered besides us, TU, LSU and Buffalo.

Hey, he was gonna end up somewhere, so the best of luck to him.

Throws a really nice ball, but simply wasn't a good fit any longer for the offense RU is going with since you need a very mobile guy at QB to make things go. -He knew it...and Ash and Co. knew it.

Certainly seemed like a humble, good kid, though, and hopefully it all works out for him in Philly.

He will redshirt in 2016.
He will be a 5th year Senior in 2020 when he leads the Owls against Rutgers.

Temple is heading in the right direction. But based on the type of QB being recruited now it is obvious he made the right decision not to come here. I do wonder what Rettig must be thinking...

Nice pick up for Temple. I thought he might have better options but he should go where he feels most comfortable. Did you consider PJ Walker a dual threat QB?

I was always worried about him. His offer list should have been much better after his elite 11 performance. Recruiters saw something that most here didn't.

Temple runs a spread and the coach could be moving to a new job each year. If Franklin has a bad year, then State Penn is a great spot for Temple coach. Then what?

Doesn't really make sense. You'd think he'd go to a school that runs a pro offense and a coach that won't be leaving in a year. Sucks he didn't have better options.

Good luck to him, thought he would have more options and higher level opportunities, as was mentioned above it is interesting that his recruiting never blew up after his elite level performance.

He will be playing on Sundays in the future mark my words

There are far more school teachers, sales managers, regional vice presidents and on and on - who were going to be "playing on Sundays in the future " ... than there are actual NFL players
Even for the 'sure thing' the odds are not certain .

Good Luck to him - may he stay healthy and may all of his deficiencies be things that can be addressed with hard work & good coaching.
