Eh. Is he a good prospect? Maybe. Was he better than Weigers? Don't think so. Did it hurt to lose Weigers? Eh not really. Fact is with the current depth on the roster someone like Russo, who is not physically ready to play at this level, was not necessarily guaranteed to see the field.

A lesser recruited, more athletic QB, of which we don't have on the roster, has a much better chance of climbing the depth chart. Now would I rather have Russo AND an athletic guy? Yeah. But that's not how QB recruiting works.

I won't lose any sleep over this one. Writing was on the wall.

Youre wrong. It hurts. Lets not talk down to temple like were better.

No. Don't want another situation like Schiano had where you have 2 scholarship QBs in fall camp. I know we have 4 on the team right now, but who knows what they will do with change in system. Bring in a QB every year.

Slim pickings right now too. Maybe ash has a rabbit in his hat

Let's not go overboard, Russo was a redshirt, RU is going to run a spread by the time Anthony was ready they would certainly have found a spread QB. Anthony making a good decision for Anthony.

My honest first comment on Russo to a friend when he committed was that he throws a beautiful ball but the only way he could be less mobile was that if he actually grew roots. He's not a fit for this offense.
With that said, we could really use some more talent at the QB position so I hope we find someone who does fit.

Here's a QB that I'd be perfectly happy to get. He committed to Syracuse, but Rutgers and Minnesota seem to be among those going hard. He's 5A player of the year in Louisiana, but Tulane and LSU didn't offer.

Not prototype size, but he's got mobility and the mind - good grades....Harvard wants him too.

How do you know Rutgers is going after him "hard".

Spread QBs are a dime a dozen in Texas and other Southern states.
I've got a dime. Can we just get ONE kid? Please? Any kid? He can be legally blind and be missing one arm - I don't care. He can have ovaries. I'm tired of hearing about decommits. Just one freakin' commit.

It's pretty clear we'll never get another commitment, ever. What is Ash doing? He should definitely take your somebody, anybody approach...we'd have this class filled in no time.

Russo made a smart decision - he's not a spread QB, by any stretch. By far the biggest issue is who do we recruit instead and will this person start over who we have?

He want to go to a school LSU that uses dual threat QBS

Ant seemed like a solid kid with a head on his shoulders and knew early where he wanted to go....until he got cold feet...better now than in a couple weeks..even the MAC gets some under rated talent that blossoms why can't we..

So you want Flood back? He was willing to take anyone.

Wonder I'd they go after Anthony Brown now.
Might be a tad late on Brown. But from what I heared from a couple of people there is interest. The problem is he is an early enrollee at BC. No idea how that would work. But with Mr. Russo good luck to the young man. I'm thankful he gave RU a chance. He has to make the best decision for him. If he feels that RU is not the offense he is comfortable with then he has to move on. Guys let's trust the staff on this.

Unless you can recruit one of the top 15 to 20 DUAL threat HS QBs you are going to struggle to run the spread.

If your QB can't run, your in deep trouble. If your QB can run, but isn't a good thrower, you're in deep trouble.

I am old school like Saban. Pro-set, ground and pound and play action all day. But the entire B12 runs the spread, so I am probably totally wrong.

If BC did not release him from his LOI he would have to sit next year and would have 3 more years of eligibility. If he was released from his LOI then he would be a normal transfer and sit out next year and have 4 years of eligibility left.

I am bummed about the de-commit.
I understand it with the new coaching change.
I will give time for Coach Ash to bring his vision to the Banks before I get disillusioned.
On paper, Russo doesn't look like a perfect fit for the offense.

If Russo goes to Temple, he better be ready for their coach to leave in 2 years for better opportunities.
Temple seems like the best fit for him (from this no knowledge outside perspective fan of football)
I wish him the best.

PS: In my yoga class last night, the instructor mentioned the "Fight of Flight" instinct and I wanted to ask her if she had Coach Ash's permission to use it.

Sad, that I won't see Russo play on the Banks. He is going to be VERY good! For those of you who don't understand what it takes to play in a "Pro" Offense, with absolutely no running ability, look at guys like Tom Brady, Ben Roeth.., Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, Andy Dalton, Aaron Rogers, the list goes on. A QB, only needs to move a few steps in the pocket to be successful.
Now, where do we go from here? Houston converted a WR to QB, and he ran a pretty good Offense. I don't know who it will be for RU this year, but next year the kid from St Peters Prep. looks like a great dual threat with size and good mechanics. Go RU!

Well sign me up for what Houston did this year. Let's trust the staff. If they don't win in 3 years then time to start looking. But as a fan base we need to support the coaches and our current kids and commits.

Good luck.
Wishing Anthony an injury free college career and hope he earns his degree.
Once Russo started getting more suitors, RU was facing competition they didn't have when AR gave his verbal.

It will be injury free. The kid wouldn't have even seen the field here, let alone at LSU.
