Guys I have too tell you rupp is so much better. The scoreboard the lighting ,the new paint job. If they can put chair seats in the upper deck I don't believe a new arena is needed. Its pretty awesome .

Adding chairbacks would likely reduce the total number of seats. While it would be nice, some of our upper level season ticket holders would likely be without tickets, unless the student section took the hit.

I think you'd reduce the student allotment.

Recent article on the new renovations talked about the idea of chairbacks, but the floor space needed would reduce capacity from 23,500 to 19,000.

Thus, don't see it happening.

I'd love to see chair backs up there, but I don't think there is enough room in the current rows to do it. You can barely get through the rows with people in their seats already. You add backs to the seats and you likely lose 4 or 5 inches of space in the already tight upper arena. Plus your going to lose seats in the actual rows because of arm rests. They likely would be better off building a new arena over ever trying to add chair backs. I don't see that happening for a long while with all the millions invested in Rupp.

I think we've seen the last major renovations we'll ever see done to Rupp. Not a lot left possible within the space available.
People have been sitting up there on bleacher seats for 40 years and no one has died from it. Chairbacks in the upper deck aren't terribly important in my book. If you want a Lazy-Boy, just stay home.

I don't think we will ever see chairbacks in the upper level. It is just too much of a financial hit to remove 4000 seats to accommodate that renovation. By doing that, you improve the seating in the upper arena but you make it harder for the typical fan, who can't afford season tickets, to attend a game or two yearly.

The improvements made to Rupp Arena this year have greatly improved the looks of the place. The scoreboard, lighting, and paint job have been significant to help modernize the place.

Chair backs probably wouldn't make much of a difference anyway

Agree the chair back seats would be nice. But also don't want to lose 4K seats. Maybe 1K might be ok. What about adding chairback seats just in parts of the upper arena. For example just the 2 ends, & maybe the corners; or maybe just mid-court sections; or maybe just one side/half (which would be good for concerts too).

someone like that shouldn't be allowed in the building.
UK fans from Mississippi? Seriously though healthy handicapped people does make it harder for everyone around them to sit comfortably on bleacher seats. If not for a good show, folks might complain.

Short of a new arena ... at some point economics will demand removing seats and adding suites (which UK would love to do today). Basically the exact same thing we did to Commonwealth.

The demand for basketball tickets is down (product of every game being on TV, declining student interest, fact we hardly play anybody any good at Rupp anymore, etc.), but it's not down enough ... yet.

I sat upper for bbm and it was miserable. Knees to my back, scrunched up, hot, hardness on my ***, nowhere to put my drink, just bad. Then I had 2nd row lowers for blue/white and thought it would blow the uppers away, wrong. The view was good but that's it. Couldn't even get a f'n cupholder, still scrunched up with the people next to me and uncomfortable. And good god, do we need 22 smile cams per game? I'll be watching the games from the comfort of my living room from now on.

Just make the seats smaller and sell tickets only to skinny people. Then again, nevermind.

I drive 2.5 hours to see big blue play and be happy about it and I've only been lower level one time and certainly not since coach cal has been here.

I have sat up there many a time and it is pretty snug. Instead of chairs, it seems like they could possibly put in a long bench back. That wouldn't reduce capacity but I can only imagine having a nice metal bench back cutting into my kneecaps.

They've made some nice changed on the inside but does anyone agree that it look putrid from the outside? It looks like an old abbondoned warehouse. They need to do something about that

I've thought for awhile this might be the best solution. However, I'm not sure people would have room to pass by. It's already frightening enough when you have to crawl around people to make your way out for one reason or another.

I was at the blue/white and there definitely wasn't wifi. Maybe it is coming?

"The center-hung scoreboard with new LED screens would be installed in time for the 2016-17 UK men's basketball season. Upgraded Wi-Fi would be installed during the 2016-2017 season. A new sound system and better lighting also are planned.

Judy Taylor, a board member, asked during Monday's meeting why the wireless upgrades had to wait until 2016. "That's one of the biggest complaints I hear, is that people can't use their cellphones."

Owen said the Wi-Fi upgrades can't take place before the other improvements because of the construction."

I always am anxious to go to games, but then after sitting up there on the bleachers, I dread dealing with it for a couple hours. I have a bad back that makes sitting on bleachers suck. It wouldn't be as bad if I wasn't scrunched up with my knees in someone's back and other people's knees in mine. I could tolerate it more if people would just stay in their seats but that never happens. It is hard to get up after my back stiffens up and people are constantly trying to walk back and forth. I might have to stop going unless I can get in the front row of the upper arena.

They could add a back bar to those upper arena seats without having to do arm rests and losing the space. That would help some.

I'm UP there in the upper arena and would love to see a back put on the upper level. It would keep the knees out of my back and give me a little something to rest back on during timeouts, halftime, etc. I have backs on my seats in Commonwealth and just having that makes a huge difference in comfort. I just bring a little soft seat pad and I'm all set. I don't need full chairbacks to please me all that much, just keep it simple and it would be a big improvement without losing seating capacity.

Honestly, you're coming off as either a troll or some 14 year old kid. Possibly both. Come back when you no longer wet the bed or move out of your mom's basement. I suspect neither will happen very soon. Till then, you're on IGNORE.
