Our lineup sucks, after all. If they think their No. 2 guy gives them ashot to beat us, it's not a bad call. Play to win the regional, and all.

Maybe Cohen was like "I'll start Stratton against Samford because their #1 starter is so good" just to get Samford's coach to be like "Oh no, maybe if I go with my number 2 guy they'll go with their number 2" then Cohen was like "exactly"

Everyone wins here but Florida St

..is one of the dumbest statements I've ever read on a messageboard renowned for its dumb statements.

No, it doesn't make sense. You think Samford has their version of Graveman to pitch against us? Without looking it up, I can assure you they don't. If Samford is dumb enough to pitch their #2 guy against us, then MSU chances of winning the first game increases exponentially.

Lastly, I'm getting sick of you cranky nuts constantly bashing our hitters.

It's been a race to see who can most impress the new FSU posters with colorful descriptions of our hitting woes.

It reminds me of the MSU posters who appear on NAFOOM to bash Miss. State.

They hit well enough to win the SECT. If you can hit well enough to win the SECT, then you can hit well enough to go all the way.

what should UAB do? Maybe all 3 teams not named FSU will save their #1 for FSU and it will be a collective attempt to eliminate the home team.

Are you telling me that Samford has pitched their ace twice this week that much? Or are you talking about another pitcher? I would just like clarification.

One needs to score more wins than the other team to win. Our pitching has been exceptional, which means our
below average, bad (now moving up towards mediocre) hitting has been enough.

From my eye, it looks like we are improving a bit, but we are still a below average hitting team.

Our -pitching- won us the tournament, much more than our hitting.

Also, Central Arkansas blanked us late in the season. Q.E.D.

All that aside, we -seem- to be improving, and I think SEC pitching is better than what we will be facing, but I'm not
sure if our hitters are good enough to take full advantage of that.

...if the #2's a junkballer who switches speeds and can locate, our guys will be waving at the wind and getting called strike 3's all day long.<div id="isChromeWebToolbarDiv" style="display:none"></div>

he did throw 122 on Wednesday and 117 on Sunday. That info can be found on the Southern Conference website.

And after reading a few recap articles on that website, I think we would give Josh Martin fits. He throws a lot of pitches and doesn't seem to be very efficient (although he is very effective). A team like us, that takes pitchers deep into a lot of counts, would probably give him fits.

First of all, I said "if" samford believes their no. 2 can beat us. I never claimed he could.
And it makes just as much sense for them to save their ace as it does for anyone else with hopes of winning a regional. If you have to win the first two, you make the pitching matchups with that in mind, saving your ace for the toughest of the two games.

Now I'm not saying that's the best move necessarily, but it can be supported logically.

Cohen said yesterday we are not sure yet who we are going to throw.

points he made
1. If Graveman or your #2 can win game 1, you would like to save Stratton for the 2nd game. We are still looking into what is best for our team.
2. It should would put us behind the 8ball and make you upset if you lost the 1st game and knew you didn't throw your best guy who was ready to go.

That is why pitching depth is such a tremendous advantage in a tournament. For a team with a thinner staff about their only hope is to stay out of the losers bracket and out of the bullpen. It is virtual suicide to lose the first game if you lack pitching depth which is the main difference between a major conference team and a mid-major. I think it would be idiotic for sanford to gamble like that with their first game.

I personally think we're gonna shell whoever they decide to pitch against us. Cohen will have us prepared for every weapon UAB, Samford, and FSU could possibly throw at us.

from what i saw he has 30BB on the year, he walked 8 in last two outings

From the looks of the SoCon tournament their #2 had the best outing going 9 and shutting App State down.

And appy state is no joke, they got an at-large bid playing in the southern conference. Im not sure I just wouldn't rather see Martin because at least he is a normal pitcher. If their #2 is a junkball pitcher, we will have some trouble. See Grundy for Kentucky in the SEC tourney.
