I know he was a freshman but he will get eaten alive. That goofy kid doesn’t stand a chance here.

I don’t want him. If he were to leave Illinois bc of his assistant then there would be some definite tampering going on. Players following head coaches is one thing assistants I don’t agree with

That kid can play, if you watched any of their games this year at all that would be evident. Sure he made some mistakes out there, but that kid would be a stud here.
You must not wager on college basketball. Kid was awful. Again, he was young, but still.

There’s really no ethics in recruiting anymore. This, in large part, is what Emmert and the NCAA has allowed to become a culture of corruption by not doing anything to those that blatantly cheat.

Curbelo had a really solid year for a Freshman. Kendall Marshall comps out of high school

Curbelo was a good player even with zero threat of an outside shot. Fantastic handle. Elite assist rate. Excellent 2 pt shooting numbers because he can shake most defenders and get easy looks inside 10 feet.

if he gets even a mediocre jumper he will be a handful
I guess if you get or keep shooters like Mintz, Allen, Fredrick, Grady then the PG can distribute the ball or penetrate and doesn’t have to shoot lights out.

Curbelo was fantastic in the Big Ten tournament. He has a great handle, really slick ballhandler and passer, can drive the rim, and also got a bunch of steals on the defensive end. I really liked what I saw from him.

He’s not a good shooter ...that’s his glaring weakness ...but the rest of his game looked quite strong.

This guy makes Ashton Hagans look like Steph Curry.

If this kid is still playing college ball as a Jr he will be in the conversation for player of the year. He'll never been an elite scorer, but his feel for the game is elite. How he reads a pick and roll and delivers the ball at the right time. He scared Adam Miller off. Anybody saying they wouldn't want him here are crazy. If he stays at Illinois and is handed the keys, just watch what happens.

Here we are debating the merits of a kid that, most likely, isn't even going to play here. It's a message board and that's what it's here for, though.

I’ll take dude in a heart beat.

He’s a fighter too. Watched Illini play a few times and he’s always busting ***. Did some typical freshman **** but plays hard.

There was a time when Cal explicitly stated, there’s a waiting list, a line of top players, wanting to be at UK. I just don’t get that feeling anymore. It’s like we are on our hands and knees begging mid-range talent to come here.

I truly believe our recent struggles to be feared on anyone’s schedule is hurting us severely over the past few seasons. And add last season’s depressing results, it only makes recruiting more difficult. And it shows.

I’m not whining, pouting, or crying. I’m stating facts. The allure of the tradition is fading. Yet, winning cures all, but I just don’t see that happening again this upcoming season. And I can see it in these posts, most fans share my gut-feeling.

Here are some highlights for those interested. Watching just a few minutes had kind of a SGA vibe. Not super athletic but seems crafty getting into the lane.

Obviously not a three point threat but seemed to have a good feel for getting the ball to the right spot.

31 threes in a season is not a good sample size. I have a feeling with some work he could be a 30% guy easy, which with his other skills is fine. With his driving ability you really only need him taking wide open threes when they sag off anyway.
