These teams under achieved, under Hill and Rice 2009-2013. They had too much talent to be an under 0.500 team each year.

One observation, as I started watching the game on TV after the first half, they never had a close up of Mike Rice. I thought that was interesting. Meanwhile, lots of close ups on Donavon. I was at that game as well and I always remember Rice shedding the jacket a minute into the game with lots of animation. Maybe he was profiled in the first half and then Donavon in the second half. IDK… just thought it was odd.

Those were freshmen??

I remember the board killing Rice for not winning right away with the class after a disaster tourney somewhere where Richmond and Illinois St beat up on them

if i remember Randall was a pretty big disappointment and Jack was for the first year and half then all of sudden Jack clicked and a good stretch for a time. Seagears showed alot of promise and then quickly fell apart.

Mack is an underrated player at RU, he was loyal to Rice too, such a shame he got caught up this mess and never got a tournament and I think many RU fans forgot about him

Yep

- Mack was very loyal and good for his 4 years here. Played for Rice and EJ
- Jack stayed for 4 years but never reached his star potential. Played for Rice and EJ
- Seagers never elevated his game. Was adequate. He subsequently transferred
- Randall was a disappointment. Didn’t he get some settlement? Transferred as well
- Biruta, Carter and Poole all bailed . Carter was real good and Biruta was solid bb
- I always liked Dane Miller. Recall him having great freshman year and he never improved on it.

That team had talent, definitely more than we have this year. 3 guys who could play the post. Imagine! Watching the replay I was struck by the ball movement on both sides.

Thought exactly the same. The movement without the ball was impressive…and I always thought if Rice as a defensive coach…go figure.

I wish Rutgers had Carter now because he was the type of player that could create and make shots off the dribble. It was a shame he got injured because he wasn't the same player after transferring to Florida.

Damn I’ve never seen this game, opted to study or party instead, can’t remember. Terrible mistake.

What stood out to me was the difference in Rice’s protypical guard compared to Pike’s. The 2011 team had small quick guards who could shoot. Pike likes taller, lanky guards who are more slashers than shooters. Part of that might be the difference in conferences.

That was a great game and court storming victory. Was the night before the Pinstripe Bowl where we beat Iowa State. Since the Pinstripe Bowl had no pep rally (or any festivities at all), that was the “make your own” pep rally
