How does OSU turn it around so quickly and here at RU Hobbs says give it a few years.

some on this board were saying we passed OSU by because he beat them...fact is that the entire league still has better talent overall than RU...RU is 14th in talent in the league, do not let people tell you spin otherwise so while we have cut the gap with the bottom of the league and can beat an Illinois or a Nebraska or a Penn State that still does not mean we are in a better position than them. The entire Big 10 is still better positioned to be a better program than RU until a full 4 year class of Pike's team is here so he still has two more to go.

They are playing well right now. Top 20 but no way do I think they are Top 10.

Purdue has shown they are the best in this league. OSU is going to land somewhere between 15-20. I would still say MSU will go farther though than OSU when we get into crunch time

Disagree. As do the announcers who said Rutgers was excellent defensively against an overmatched opponent.

Holding OSU to under 70 points darn good. If only we had offense it would have been much more respectful

********....RU was outscored 40-9 over a 20 minute period dating back to the first half and continuing into the 2nd. RU may have played solid D the first 10 minutes but that was it. The start of the 2nd half was abysmal defense in all facets...20-3 run. RU allowed its offensive woes to effect its defense, Pike said as much. There is no spinning open shots and layups given up

Freeman w/ maybe the worse game I’ve seen on the banks: 2pts, 0 rbs on 1-12 shooting w/ lazy defense..

8 total freakin rebounds in the last 4 B1G games. The guy was made 1st captain last year cause he was a rebounding maniac and played seriously hard....now its all about the O in his mind.

Freeman was taken out and RU went on that little run that made things more palpable but as soon as he went back in the run stopped...we will move on without him next year and be better for it. His selfishness in shooting and his horrid shot selection and refusal to pass is insane. Pike should be looking to the future and trying to get more shots for Thiam and Eugense and less for Freeman...and he should be yanked any times he throws up one of those horrific 3 point shots

exactly when I left as my son had a 90minute ride home and early work tomorrow. We saw that, looked at each other and said.."let's roll"

Could not agree more. I still laugh that posters ripped into me after the seton hall game when i was critical of freeman and how he shouldve cost us that game and would cost us games in the future. Hes a net negative. Offense stops when he touches the ball. Were gonna be sooo much better without him next year.

I really hope corey comes back because he makes things happen on O and is a pretty damn good defensive player. I think we have to try and get some weight on issa to try to get him more comfortable in a 3 role because we really dont have a true wing for next year.

Back court- Corey, Geo, Kiss, Mathis, Issa Souf (in dire times)
Front Court- Shaq Carter, Shaq D, Eugene, Myles Johnson, Duke
Redshirt- Harper

Hopefully Bullock “retires” and we can free up a ship to add ideally another quality player, ideally a shooter

the reality is Freeman leaves and others will be called upon to take up the slack but the team may be better off for it in the long run albeit the record may suffer somewhat next year. Freeman does a great job rebounding but his shot and defense is dependant on whether his head is in the game and too often its not and it hurts the team. He couldnt even convert a simply layup at one point in the 2nd half that should have easily been a dunk anyhow

also hopefully we push at least 3 players out.

No one wants to hear but the talent gap has widened. The transition from Jordan to Pikiell has killed us.

Not fair to blast Pikiell, but the reality is the 1st 2 classes, as a whole, have been real bad.

Not a player in the 1st 2 classes that is B1G starter material. Yes they can improve, but as of now VERY underwhelming.

Pikiell has done A great job with everything else.

I think Doucoure was not ready and pushed to do way too much. It may have been better if he was not reclassified. The loss of Gettys was HUGE...we needed another big guy...that Myles Johnson is redshirt is either a serious headscratcher or major red flag to me.

I am very fine with Baker. Thiam and Eugene need to get more involved and less of Freeman.

Because Ohio State has recruited much better than Rutgers, and their coach is better than Pikiell. Simple.

Rutgers is moving forward, but other teams in the BigTen are not standing still. It will be a long climb upward.

With the way the college game is played today you don't need 4 centers in the rotation. If you don't redshirt Johnson you would have Duke, Doorson, Sa and Johnson..too many to try to find minutes for each. Redshirt was the right move for freshmen Big man Johnson and it's not a red flag.

Next year...the Juco is a 4 to replace Freeman and you still have 3 Centers in the rotation.

RU has 3 centers yet all of them are not contributing much thats the bottom line.

Rutgers fans have been more than patient.Poor recruiting as compared to league competition has been the norm for over two decades. The won/loss records have been a natural extension of sub par recruiting.

This is true and while Pikiell has done great in terms of effort and buy-in, he's not yet recruiting like even Rice or Hill. Even Eddie got Corey Sanders.

The fact of the matter is it's time to move past under-the-radar guys and start winning more recruiting battles against power-5 schools. Mathis is a good get but we'll see about Harper and Carter (even highly-rated JUCOs are a gamble).
