Four trips to the line. Says a lot about the effort on O today. Sanders and Johnson were 11 for 33, but I guess that's about their ceiling for B1G games. Just another sad day. Pikiell's recruits are so out-played by an opponent's freshmen again. Talent may be better than the previous staff's but hard to see any uptick compared to other B1G programs. Two recruits for '17 and the question still is -- where the F is a shooter?

You do know that Pikiell came to RU after most of the 2016 recruiting was over.

We need shooters, that's for sure. Thiam should develop into one with more coaching, Corey can create good looks, Mike can shoot when he has time, but we need a couple of guys who can fill it up. And we need a big man.

We need to get home and win a game. Unfortunately, Northwestern looks very good.

they are good but having watched them several times they can get in a rut on offense, seem to run hot and cold and if RU catches them on an off night and can stay close, they can sneak a win. They are well coached though and better than this Iowa team

Northwestern has shooters and will play zone against Rutgers .Where are the points going to come from with Williams not contributing in recent games?

Zone might actually help RU's offensive rebounding.

Gettys sometimes tends to be very soft and flailing his arms when no one is near him (watch towards the end of the game). No offense, but he's like the giant marshmallow from the original ghost busters where he looks intimidating but really isn't. Ugly kept going at him hard.

Geo Baker.
Geodarno Baker-Occeus is a very talented point but he isn't a shooter. The JuCo clearly is not a shooter.

Yes, Pikiell got a late start. That's why he should have used a couple of rides on grad transfers so that Knight and Hobbs would have them to get a couple of shooters in 17 instead of using them on a couple of 16 kids who were left in the spring.

By all account Baker is a combo guard, and a shooter. Not a point guard.

Yeah, well, Nigel Johnson was touted as a combo too. Geo is as much of a 2 as Nigel, except at least Geo has another inch or 2 on Nigel. I saw Geo play in Worcester in December. He was very impressive -- tournament MVP with 60 in two games. But he wasn't getting his points on jumpers in the game that I saw. Very aggressive to the hoop. A little bit funky stroke that hopefully the staff will clean up.

Geo will be a very good player at Rutgers. Less sizzle, but much more of a team player than Sanders.

I will now update my "by all accounts". I haven't seen him play so I'm just going on what I've read. My hope was he could shoot.

From ESPN Basketball recruiting.

SCOUTING REPORT
Strengths:
Baker is a skilled guard who has improved at a rapid rate over the course of his high school career. He has a special ability to make shots off the dribble at a young age and his pull-up, even from long range, is really his most defining weapon.

I hope that analysis is right. Maybe he was just having a bad shooting game when I saw him play. I didn't mean to knock the kid because I would trade Johnson or Sanders for him right now. Against Worcester Academy he oozed the kind of calm leadership that I just don't see on the floor for RU right now.
