If we can land a grad transfer 3 point shooter then were a bubble team next year.

Considering the leap that Eugene took I am very optimistic in how our staff can develop Duke with a full off-season. Plus the addition of shaq carter who will be a legit big man who i can see averaging 10 and 8 playing an efficient game and Mathis who has a great ability to get to the tin.

Id rock with a starting 5 of

Corey-Mathis-Grad transfer 3 point shooter (big if)- Eugene- Shaq Carter. I think Geo is best off the bench playing 20-25 mins a game vs 32 mins a game

Im okay with losing if it means we are building toward something...the makeup of the teams that last two years were not conducive to that. Its not all Pikes fault, he was stuck with certain players. Make no mistake the recruiting needs to be GRAND for 2019...just recruiting okay will still be at the bottom of the league..and we all know that the whole league is full of very good coaches. It will be year 3 and Pike will be fair game for criticism on recruiting and direction of the program. Honeymoon officially over...some good signs in the first two years but some concerning as well.

there is no basis of reality in that first sentence.....none...you are looking at RU in a vacuum and 13 other Big 10 schools finished better than RU this year and have either talent coming back or coming in. The only bubble this team could challenge is 5 wins to get out of the 11-14 games

Think about it we took Mich St twice and purdue wire to wire with very few offensive threats. Next year if we can add Mathis, a grad transfer shooter, Kiss then we can really improve leaps and bounds. Also we’ll be playing much more efficient as a team without Freeman. Next year we could have a nebraska type of season imo

Agree with this. Hopefully, we can be above .500 two years from now. However, the recruiting needs to pick up big time for that to happen.

Watching Carr of Penn State, he is an NBA player. Need better talent.

It annoys me to no end that Carr and Watkins have turned out as good as they have. I remember cautioning my friend not to get too excited over a highly ranked recruiting class, noting RU's 2008 and 2011 classes. But of course theirs actually pans out. F sports.

do you realize that all the Big 10 schools had some similar close games. Playing a few close games is one thing, this team didnt even play consistently and lost by 20 plus way too many times. Its efforts in both Illinois games were very questionable.. you are counting on players that never played to get RU 6-8 more conference wins next year..good luck

I guess we should just give up. Northwestern was supposed to be good and Nebraska bad. Doucoure and Geo need to improve a lot next year and Mathis makes an impact.

The way I see it we played 4 games wire to wire vs top 25 teams and won one of them (seton hall). This is more than about half of our conference can say. I know youre a pessimistic type but were alot closer than u think

close games mean zero...we are going to end up losing 19 games this season. we have less talent than any other Big 10 school..what are you missing...we beat 3 crappy Big 10 schools and got worse as the season progressed not better...Wisconsin our first team we beat ended up 7-11 and 9th, Iowa was 4-14 and still finished ahead of RU. Northwestern had an implosion and lost alot and still finished 10th. Penn State with a great class now juniors moved in up Chambers 7th season but that move up only got them to 7th and only the NIT...

its nice there are some more pieces to come in next year but first of all they are young and the remaining players still cannot shoot straight and you over rate Corey,.

if there is any comparison the trajectory that Pike will take us it will be follwing Chambers path

I don't think we are very close. Until we improve the athleticism up and down the roster, we have a long way to go. It's going to take 3 more top recruiting classes to do so.

Maybe for whatever reason it can not be done at Rutgers regardless of the coach.
Same story for 2 and a half decades with no signs of improvement. Yes we got a 4 star recruit coming in yet schools such as Northwestern are bringing in 3.
It all comes down to recruiting and Rutgers can't find a way to get a couple top Jersey kids to come here.
Another last place finish next year cannot help the cause and this coaching staff will be feeling the heat.
Is this time around finally different?
I hope so but the honeymoon period is over and the fans are restless.
There has to be some improvement soon!

Thanks. I was stupid for overreacting the way I did. I guess it's just years of following everything Rutgers and seeing this movie over and over again. And yet I'm still here and I still give to the program every year. Have a good night too.

I agree with almost everything. We are not mired in mediocrity. I almost wish we were mediocre.

After 3 decades of futility ,mediocrity should be a realistic goal in the future which for me would be winning 6-8 league games.
