They probably ran it at least a dozen times with a few variations even. They ran the slow mesh RPO from Wake Forest a few times.
Almost the entire 2nd half were RPO plays by the offense. Multiple receivers dropped perfectly placed passes that would have gained 30 yards, combined, at least. So frustrating.
I am so numb to watching our sub par WRs these past few years that today’s game was probably an above average effort from them….which is sad.
Even Gill is now somewhat unreliable…you know, the Northwestern cast off that was our crown jewel WR last season….
I saw very little of the game. But it didn't look like any well ran RPO plays...
That noted, I Did see 3 well thrown passers dropped... And Wetjen stumbling on a route that allowed an interception.

RPO and read option are two entirely different things that many fans confuse with each other.
Iowa ran at least a handful of RPO's against ISU.
And ran even more read option, including some slow-mesh.
RPO allows Grono to hand it off, or pull it out of the RB's gut and pass, based on how the defender (usually a safety) is playing it.
Read option allows Grono to either hand it off, or pull it and run himself, based on how the defender (usually a DE) is playing it
