We sit at 19 today. I ran some numbers. Had we just not played Alcorn at all we would be 16.

We cannot afford to continue playing 3 games against SWAC schools. They are RPI killers. Maybe just play 2.
Alcorn State #304
Jackson State #293
Grambling #294
There are 308 schools that play NCAA Division 1 baseball.

Those 3 pre-conference weekends are not helping us either. We probably should play someone with a pulse one of these weekends.
Hofstra #147
Delaware #257
Lipscomb #208

Losing to a decent Sunbelt or CUSA might be better for the RPI than beating a SWAC school.

What if we had dropped all 3 of the SWAC games? I can see playing either Jackson St. or Alcorn. But not both. And certainly not any other SWAC teams.

JSU is usually a good opponent to have. This is their first losing record in a while and it allows you to get some work for arms that haven’t gotten much action.

Meh. They had a good year in 221 (RPI 118) but since then their average RPI is 269. Playing them isn't helping us any.

You can’t focus on their rpi rank. Their record is the most important thing. Last year they had a better win percentage than our composite opponent win percentage this year.

Maybe keep playing JSU as one of the two SWAC game
JSU was #277 RPI last year, #237 in 2024, & #261 in 2023

But their opponents' winning percentage is also important, and theirs has to be abysmal. They were 25-21, so that's not awful. But their opponents were 961-1467 (.396). And that's 25% of our RPI from them right there.

Again, I'm OK playing them. But not both them and Alcorn. And really looking at Alcorn's records, we should never, ever play them.

Hofstra was fine. Just have to limit the sub 200 teams and especially the sub 275 teams

Agree...and I actually think we could be higher than 16 b/c I didn't adjust our opponents opponents win percentage when I took Alcorn out b/c its too much trouble and we know it would only help us.

Or, and I know this is a radical theory, win 1 game against either UGA, TN or Arkansas, or beat USM in Hatty.
Because Q1 and Q2 wins or loses have greater impact on our RPI than Q4 wins.

But, that's just me.
