KSR has an interview he did, and he was asked if he was going to the draft for his guys. He said he doesn't do that, and openly called out Cal for doing it. Said it's not their night, that it's for the families, and that Cal told him he wants the kids to hug him after their families so he gets on TV.

Yep. No hypocrisy in his statement.

"Eventually, there’s going to come a day — if that day hasn’t come already — when Roy Williams doesn’t even need to make recruiting pitches to prospective North Carolina players. All he’ll need to do is carry around a picture of himself from Thursday night’s 2012 NBA Draft.

There the Hall of Fame coach sat, in all his glory, near the stage of the Prudential Center, beaming as he held up four fingers for a TV camera — one of them flashing a shiny national championship ring. In his lap sat four hats: Warriors, Suns, Bucks, Mavericks."

Roy’s only had three OAD guys in his entire career as a coach, and only one since Cal came to Kentucky.

Meanwhile, Cal’s had 24 OAD guys (all first round picks) dating back to Wagner at Memphis.

I’d say it’s more because Roy simply can’t recruit elite kids than it is some sense of nobility towards the draft night.

He’s full of shite.

Roy needs to thank his lucky stars that Mr Higgins benched Bam, Fox and Monk for a significant portion of the game. He also needs to put on his prayer list of thanks to the referees that handed him the win over Arkansas and lay low he has been a very fortunate man of late, and that is not even mentioning his free pass through the whole UNC mess.

Just remember Huckleberry: Cal gets s**t on for two rogue players, but you conspired with your POS big nose mentor to devise an academic scheme to help keep your players eligible

POS College list:

1) Dave Bliss
2) Pitino
3) Bobby Knight
3) Dean Smith/Roy Williams

Fine company you're in

I hate the Heels but Roy is right on this one: the draft night should be a special evening shared by the players and their families.

Coach K doesn't show up for example. Heck, he was in NYC yesterday and he still didn't go out of respect for the purpose of draft night.

Yep. He's just so respectful of players and their families.

Yet UNC has 3 national championships this century while UK only has 1.

And yet, we keep beating that *** on the recruiting trail. Meanwhile, as for you, you've got a 70 year old coach to plug into the wall every night and recharge. Have fun with that.

Cal has said many times that these players are his sons and that he wants to attend their "graduation". Why would he not go to his son's graduation? He cares about his players when they walk out the door, not just when they have the Kentucky uniform on.

Yeah K Might need to worry about your next tripping indecent and weather or not his back will go out again after the team struggles to live up to expectations again. Also probably not a good look that we had 3 players drafted in lottery with only 1 for Duke with a class that had more Lottery level athletes going into the season than UK.

Whatever K does is the gold standard right? If you don't want to support your players at the draft, fine, but don't cast aspersions on those who do. It makes you look petty.

It’s pretty simple that Cal’s onto a great idea by actually supporting his players.

K won’t come because Cal’s set the precedent by attending. Plus, Cal will always produce more NBA talent than anyone and it would just get awkward when Cal’s routinely putting more guys into the green room.

Suddenly, all of these coaches are “above” coming to draft night. It’s hilarious.
