I know he is a slow starter at the plate, but his at bats are getting worse.... maybe it’s time to put Debrule at lead off and let Rowdey figure it out.

This thread gets started every year. Yall should just start bumping it. Rowdey is a career .306 hitter. His track record shows, he needs more at bats, not be benched.

Rowdey will be fine, but I still think Dubrule is a better natural fit at lead-off.

Wasn't he moved down in the lineup during his sophomore slump? Doubt that was really necessary for him to get out of it, but obviously it didn't hurt him.

I dont mind moving him at all. But I'm also not worried about him.

Just stick him in the two hole

Rowdey just needs to see his hometown team.

In 2018 he entered the Auburn series (mid-April) batting .191, then went 4-10 on the weekend on his way to hitting .321.
In 2019 he entered the Auburn series (late March) batting .167, then went 6-13 on the weekend on his way to hitting .290.

The Auburn series is April 9-11 this year, so just be patient. Either that or write into the contract with Kent State that they have to wear orange and blue.

Nate Lowe was hitting at about that same clip through the 2016 OOC schedule. Glad we didn't take him out of the #3 spot.

That said, I'd be alright with Rowdy hitting second, simply because we have Dubrule.

This thread comes up every year because Rowdey is a very streaky hitter. That's not a quality want in your lead off guy. You want some one more consistent in that spot. Rowdey is just as likely to go 0-12 in a weekend series as he is to go 10-12. Just because his average will end up fine doesn't mean he's a good lead off guy. Also, no one is calling for him to be benched. Just pushed lower in the order.

All the more reason to be bullish going forward

We have several individuals that are running well below their peak output and we're still sitting pretty.
