Rutgers was deep with guards this past year. JY, GB, PM, CM and MM. 5 guys, who all started at some point, rotating 3 spots. Montez found himself as the last option when Paul took more of a lead role. As we move into next year, currently we are looking to add two more Guards into the rotation - Jones and Miller. Pike was going to have a similar issue and Jones and Montez both would have been fighting for the same spot. If Jones develops as a contributor this will end up being a great move. His game can open up the court and he’s got length. I’m not saying Montez was forced out but he clearly was not given they role he wanted.
