I know, I was just trying to make light of a bad situation. Three upperweights depart the team at the same time a starter goes down with an injury. I don't have any reliable info on Ryder, sorry. In both of DT's press conferences since it happened, he mentioned stingers when talking about Ryder's injury. I'm pretty certain it's more than that. No clue how long it keeps him out though
Hopefully he can recup for 2 or 3 weeks and be ready for Iowa

When Ryder was walking on the mat, his arm was hanging like a shoulder separation. IMO

White has grown and looks like he is boun

he was 190 few weeks ago and that was with a cut actively going. He is going to be a 197 most likely
That is unfortunate. We dont have good back up at 184 in case of injury for Ryder like now. Atleast 197 we have Austin.

Will probably move up to 141.
He certainly can go to 141 but last year I was shocked in a big dual he dropped to 126 for a chance to wrestle a Bachmann. To avoid that Match Bachmann moved up a weight. The tournament likely gave some weight but Jax can cut weight.

It's fun fodder, but we really need to see how guys finish at NCAAs before we can say much about how next year's lineup looks. If Sergio goes out and wins a title, he gets to wrestle at whatever weight he wants and there will be no redshirt. If Casey goes and takes third, we will view the lineup much differently than if he goes 1-2.

Agree 100%. Ive made mention also of Vega possibly needing a RS before he goes up to 49 and Ive caught hell in some pod chats and on twitter. And Im literally thinking how have you people not seen that going up a weight a lot of times a wrestler is not as successful? Vega uses LEVERAGE with his length. He will lose some of that going up against taller and stronger opponents at 49. There are a lot of factors to consider in the short and long term.

He has Casey and Jamison in the room they probably already know if he needs a RS at 149 or not . My guess is he doesn't. But it might be the best thing for the team long term

It is my opinion, nothing more.

But, it is beneficial for a RS when bulking up a weight. If he is going 49, his constant weight needs to be around 55 and “off-season/walk around” weight needs to be a tad higher.

Right now, he stays pretty tight to 41 because he can blow up to 50 pretty easy.

He can get to 60 easily 🤷. He's a 149 in the future

From what Ive heard that is one of the reasons I think a RS would benefit him. I love Vega and his success has been amazing, but lets think about this for a minute. At 49 he could see guys longer than Echemendia with the same or more strength. That match was razor thin and his best leg attack came off a reattack. With the way 49 is, I could definitely see him being an AA but I think (and its an opinion) he has a better chance against Mendez than Van ness and thats saying something. Its just the combination of length and leverage and strength that makes me think that.

If he redshirts after this year Mendez and Van Ness will be gone after that. Mendez at 41 and Van Ness at 49 are big favorites at their weight classes.

I don't see him having to take a RS to be successful at 149 right away but it may be the best for the team. Gotta remember though Raney is a 149 as well so RS both next year means another year of overlap with Vega and Raney

We probably see Echemendia at 149 next year. The infection he had in his ankle which put him in the hospital really took a toll on his body and he was small and that's why he went 141 this year. As the year has gone on his cut has become a thing.

I said myself I thought he could AA at 149. But like I also said, I see him with a better chance of beating Mendez than Van ness.

I disagree. Van Ness has been put on his back this year and scrambles way more then Jesse which plays into Vega hands. I watched Carter Young cradle Van Ness not sure the last time I saw Mendez get cradled. And Vega is a cradle guy

So what are the guesses about the late season line up? Jax? Ramirez? Ryder?
