I feel pretty strongly that the roster we have now is the roster we'll be going battle with.

Agree or you think I'm being premature?

Adrian Hill and CJ Gettys both signed in August. If we can get someone like either one of them as our backup center were golden

Are there any freshmen on the team? Did I miss something, or is it the same guys as last year - transfers + new transfers?

Well, we have Jaden Jones who enrolled early in January and then got a little garbage time in the last few weeks, but he’s technically still a freshman. The only other true freshman is the PG Jalen Miller.

From a position standpoint, I see this:

1/2 - Baker
1/2 - Miller
1/2/3 - McConnell
1/3 - Mulcahy
2/3 - Jones
3/4 - Harper
3/4 - Hyatt
3/4 - Mag
3/4 - Palmquist
4/5 - Reiber
4/5 - Agee
5 - Omoruyi

So...
- four guys who can distribute and run the offense: Baker, Mulcahy, McConnell, Miller
- four guys who can be a 2G with someone else running point: Baker, Jones, McConnell, Miller
- seven guys who can play at Wing/SF: Harper, McConnell, Mulcahy, Jones, Hyatt, Mag, and Palmquist
- six guys who can play PF: Hyatt, Harper, Mag, Agee, Palmquist, Reiber
- three guys who can play C: Omoruyi, Agee, Reiber

Tons of flexibility of lineups, and guys who can defend at multiple positions.

Also, from a size perspective.... shortest guys on the roster are 6-3 (Miller) and 6-4 (Baker), and we have 8 guys between 6-6 and 6-8, and 2 more at 6-10+. That's a lot of length defensively.

All of this seems spot on except that with most line ups there probably won’t be much distinguishing between a 3 and a 4 (when the veteran 5 play together - RHJ may not be a defined 4 vs 3 compared to Caleb for example - I think the same could be the case with Hyatt in the game).

on a related note - I wonder when the bios will get updated with this year’s measurements. Surely after a year in the weight room - Caleb will weigh more than 195 at 6-7 (he hadn’t trained the previous year).

I think Agee will mostly back up Cliff but there’s a good amount of upside with him (10-12 minutes backing up the 5 seems like his floor) when you actually watch a few games. The things he was asked to do for SJSU render some of his stats pretty meaningless for how he’ll contribute at RU. He was able to put the ball in the basket against MWC competition. We know that much. I don’t think it’s out of the realm that he’ll be able to play a Freeman style role when he’s in the game for us. If that’s the case - that would be awesome contribution from a back up.

Agree offensively with the 3/4 (play 4-out-1-in), but defensively there's a bit more of a division.

There is some, but even last year by the end of the season, Caleb was an 195 lb bull defending in the interior. We played mostly man defense and when he was in the game he almost always drew the toughest player remaining player to cover (whoever JY wasn’t assigned) from 1-4 (whether RHJ was in the game or not).

Caleb's also one of our best defenders, who as a 6-7 guard can switch onto almost every position but the 5. He's much better defending the 2/3 than he is the 1/4, but he's very versatile with his height/length/lateral speed.

Mulcahy was also asked at times to switch onto a 4 at 6-6/210 and generally got manhandled when that happened. Not all 3's and 4's can switch as easily as others.
