Can‘t agree at all - although I should check Tillman’s numbers first. I remember being very excited when he transferred in but was immediately shocked that he just wasn’t that good. Very slow. Not anywhere near as athletic as Ron. It‘s obvious why he left KY - he wasn’t good enough to play there. Harper is much quicker, a better defender, better inside scorer, better ball handler, much better player.

Exactly what I was going to post.

Very excited with Tillman coming here
and quickly disappointed
To be honest Tillman should never be mentioned as one of RU’s best. His
High school accolades were not carried over to college. Average player at best

How many players made the NBA from the 1976 team? Quite
a few, any one care to name them?
James Bailey and Eddie Jordan.
I don't recall seeing Sellers, Dabney, Copeland, Anderson, Conlin, Kleinbaum, or Hefele in the League.

Hollis Copeland played 2 yrs for the Knicks
I'm not doubting you, but for some reason I can recall seeing Hollis play for Ewing H.S. but not for the Knicks.
BTW, I never understood why Sellers didn't make it in the NBA.

Hollis played for the Knicks. Phil Sellers played one year for Detroit.

Dabney got cut by Lakers due to a contact obligation. Jerry West loved him.

Sellers a year or so with pistons

Copeland until he got hurt.

Bailey lottery pick Sonics

Jordan

Anyone else?

Kleinbaum should have made it

Sellers at 6' 4" was a dominate
forward at RU. But not for Detroit, so they tried him at guard in which he failed (didn't
have the moves). I just read he
considered himself the leader
of the team and fought with
Young constantly, Young had
to pull him off to the side often.
I also read Young also had problems with Eddie Jorden
even had to suspend him during
the championship run. Just imagine what the press would do today with those stories.

Fair. I just truly remember Douby as a great shooter. As an all around player I don’t recall.
I sat down low mid court for the Big East tournament game against Villanova when Douby was here. He looked like he was walking but nobody on Nova could keep up. He was just a really good athlete and shooter. Probably a hair too small fort he NBA game at that time. Now with everyone shooting 3s he may have had a better chance.

RHJ gets better every time I watch him. This team shares the ball and he doesn’t force things he just lets the game come to him. I think Geo has been a great leader in that regard and Pike coaches that way as well. This team is FUN to watch.

I love Ron Harper Jr. but is he really better than Geo Baker? He is on a hot streak right now.
YES, Right now, #1 RHJ #2 JY #3 healthy Geo

Geo had 3 25+ pt games in his career (25,25,29, 2 his freshman yr)
RHJ had 4 25+ pt games in his first 2 years and 4 more this year
They play different position and Geo is still getting healthy, but RHJ always had the higher ceiling, even if Geo didn't get hurt last year and this year, I don't think he is on RHJ's level.

Career numbers
Geo Baker 95 GM. 11.2pts, 2.7 reb, 3.3ast., FG 37.6 3ptFG 32.9
Ron Harper Jr. 68 GM. 11.2pts, 4.7reb, 1.2 ast., FG 46.0 3ptFG 34.6

This yr(6 GM)
RHJ 24.0pts, 7.3reb, 2.7ast., FG 60% 3ptFG 52.5%
1st game 3s 0-3 against Sacred Heart(21-37 56.8%, 5-9,1-4,5-8,5-8,5-8)
Had 5-5 from 3 last year, and other 3s and 4s

Its not fair to judge Geo this year, when he is 100% we will see if RHJ dips a little, but I doubt it. Geo has 2 standout 3pt shooting games career, 7-10,Fr., and 6-8,So., a bunch of 3s and 4s in his career.

For a guard, Geo needs to shoot more towards the 45-50% FG, 35-40% from three and was headed in that directIon his junior year before injury and regained it toward the end of 2019-20. He has to reestablish his midrange game from injury again to open up his 3s. He gets to comfortable with that step back jumper and forgets the other facets in his game, which puts him a step below RHJ and JY right now.

I'm actually wondering what RU does for offense when/if Harper cools off on his outside shooting.
Relies more on Baker.

At some point 1 of 2 things happen
1. Harper cools down
2. Defenses go in to games taking Harper away

Teams will start doing a better job knowing where Harper is on the floor at all times. Give our offense credit, Harper has gotten a lot of good looks.

Yes, I don't think its all that close honestly. Ron does everything well. Like legit everything. Young is also better and more well rounded. Myles also better. Geo and Mathis close.

For a guard, Geo needs to shoot more towards the 45-50% FG, 35-40% from three and was headed in that directIon his junior year before injury
This is a common misconception. Geo was shooting poorly prior to his injury last year. It was surprising and disappointing. Geo obviously hit many MASSIVE clutch shots, but his overall shooting percentage was not good at alllll even prior to the injury... and that includes all the early season non conference soft schedule games.
