The performance by Dylan was terrific for any player but especially for a rookie to do something only Magic Johnson has done. Also, his defense was outstanding especially jumping into the passing lanes to get many of his 7 steals. But also , his defending of Chet who tried to back him down and Dylan stood tough and caused the misss. That was really incredible stuff . We are witnessing greatness with Wemby but Dylan is giving you a glimpse of his greatness as well .And the broadcast mentions Tutgers , over and over and over again. Tremendous stuff from Dylan and tremendous for Rutgers.

Hope he gets back quickly. Only thing holding him back the last 2 years has been the injury bug. Hopefully as he matures he grows out of these nagging injuries.

Future is bright for the young man. With each game he played it only shines light on how disappointing last year was

Sorry, Pike. You just can't not make the Dance with Dylan and Ace one year removed from what they've done in the NBA. Blahblah can't explain it away.

Douche. The thread is about Harper.

Maybe the mind-set and desire to be the best were promoted and encouraged in Pike's practice and games. Of course , you will deny this, being as ignorant as you are.

Both he and Bailey have no regrets about their RU experience.

I enjoyed every game that year, because it was obvious I was watching someone very special in Harper. You probably were bitching and moaning as always.

We had 3 returning players.
Freshman in Davis 722 minutes, a JUCO big, Ogbole, that played all of 81 minutes, and Jeremiah Williams played a total of 322 minutes 2022-2024(sat out 22-23) brought in 3 more freshman, Sommerville, Grant, Dortch. Hayes D2 kid 3yrs/Q4 school, Acuff Q4 school, Dercack Q4 school, and our prize transfer, Martini, the 5th/6th option from the Princeton NCAA team. 2 Dudes & 10 inexperience or role players/bench players brought in.

There was no money, there was no support.
2 players 37 pts a games, 19.4 & 17.6
Other 10... 40 pts a game, Somerville 8.0, JWill 7.2
Rutgers 77 pts/gm scoring, Defense was atrocious

Ace 26 double digits, Dylan 24 double digits
Other 10... 43 combined double digits scoring(10,8,8,4,3,3,3,2,2,0) in 32 games.

Dylan amazes me when I watch him in postseason games as a rookie. This is the highest level of NBA competition (not playing Brooklyn or the Wizards in some Mid season game) and he looks like a 5 year veteran. Rarely makes mistakes like you would expect for a rookie. Plays defense, sets up his teammates, able to create his own shot and score when needed. Seems to play with a lot of poise and makes the right play most of the time. Amazes me when I think that he is only a 20 year old rookie and as Bill Simmons said “this is the worst version of him we are going to see in the NBA as he will only get better”.

We messed up our recruiting strategy terribly. We’ll never know for sure, but the rumor was that Pike didn’t want to piss off Lathan. We needed to bring in a Buca type and we didn’t. Ogbole getting hurt again didn’t help matters. We had no answer down low. Dercack was simply a poor fit from the start. The defensive skills he brought were never going to translate into the BIg considering we don’t play zone (and anticipation steals of the zone read is what Jordan excelled at)

Acuff got hurt pre-season too so there’s that, to be fair.

He was bad, but not worse than Darko Matajasevic, Jonnie Blake, or Ramaj St. James.
As I recall, which isn't saying much, Ramaj had a rather serviceable senior year.

EDIT: Just checked the record books, my bad. He was a bust too the single season he played.

Also, the focus on surrounding Dylan and Ace with ball dominant, isolation players (Derkack, JWill, Grant, Davis) instead of shooters to space the floor.

The fact so many were adamant JWill was going to work next to Dylan was beyond amusing.

But that's an ongoing Pike problem - regardless of Dylan/Ace.
