During last night's telecast I saw Ron Brown talking to Scott Frost on the sideline. Didn't realize he could be on the sideline during a game but I guess the rule is that only a limited number of coaches can wear the headphones during a game. And he wasn't wearing headphones. I wonder what Ron's role really is, I know officially he's some kind of spiritual coach to the players but I wonder if he gets involved these days in plays.

He isn't a spiritual advisor, he is the Director of Player Development which is a common position in college athletics (although title differs slightly by school)

Turner Gill holds a similar position at Arkansas

I wish he would/could. He would definitely get receivers to block better and I think the fumbles would decrease but that is pure speculation

We've got somewhere between 3-4 times more staff on the sideline than asst coaches when they're doing their coaches high five session before going to locker room during pre game. Could tell you who 80% of them are in the white coats (at home)

Ron Brown is an excellent person and coach. I'm sure our coach will use him to the utmost as long as its within the rules. I would just hope everyone would lay off of Ron Brown. He has first amendment rights and so does everyone else. So love Ron Brown, he's a true Nebraskan.

Yes, agree, definitely not involved in coaching (Jesus dude don't raise red flags OP!!).
I remember last fall in a game Davison mentioned something about him and/or Ron Brown helping with drills (can't remember exactly) and Greg Sharpe saying something to the effect of "Stop talking about it before we get in trouble" since they weren't technically coaches.

He was shown at least one time standing right next to Frost. And Kugler mentioned his name.

What ever position Ron Brown coached the players were very successful and the players loved and respected him. Just look at Burkhead and Abdullah.
