How much money did that dude lose by making the wrong college choice?

Guys like Been Simmons and Fultz pulled it off, but I think Langford lost millions by going to that dumpster fire of a program and playing for a coach that has not proven he can develop talent.

Also, the real money is the second contract you get, but this kid is not going to be league ready when he gets there.

It's just odd how these kids choose schools like IU and Georgia when Cal and UK have proven results.

Romeo is just trying to live up to his first name. It's why he picked Indiana. He wanted to play the part of a Shakespearean tragedy.

It's working out beautifully for him actually, since Archie will likely drink a glass of poison at season's end.

Here's what Langford screams in the lockeroom after every Indiana loss:

I'd say he work ethic plays more in him losing money than his school choice.

I doubt it will cost him much, if any, money. He’ll still go high in the draft ... then there’s a whole new set of variables.

Just glad he didn’t go to UofL. They’d potentially be awfully good with him.

Probably not contact wise, but he definitely cost himself money branding wise

Coach Cal always says that Kentucky isn't for everybody and I think Coach Cal learned a lot about Romeo when he coached the Under 18 team two years ago. Tree Young went to Oklahoma and took his 30 shots a game and is doing ok in the NBA, but he would not have got that here. It is in some kids DNA that they want to be the man other than playing as a team, getting better and playing in an environment that is second to none. As a business owner, I see that trait a lot more in the work force as well. Kids don't want to sacrifice and work hard. I feel that is a big reason why we not only get good basketball players, we get great kids as well. They are willing to sacrifice and work hard and be coached hard.

Langford wasn't a fit for anything UK/Cal are about or any winning program is about. Couldn't stand him when I watched the Team USA Cal coached in Egypt, and that was in his brief stints where he was "injured"--or came up with one due to not starting/getting all the minutes.

I'd never compare Langford to Anthony Edwards and I'd take Edwards over Langford now if it were college or the NBA Draft. Edwards openly stated why he was leaning towards staying home to play-close with his family, his sister just had a baby and it'd be easier for them to see him play, and he's a guy who is going to be a star and if he stays home..good for him. Langford choosing Indiana didn't bother me one bit, how much of a circus his recruitment, announcement, was are far more obnoxious and puzzling. This guy is a dome a dozen talent you can get any year in recruiting, and UK won out getting Tyler Herro over someone like Langford. Watch how often he observes the action on offense and defense, it's unacceptable. He's always trying to take hero shots and make hero plays (no pun intended) and if he couldn't buy in for a 2/3 week span for Cal he'd never have handled playing at a program like UK or anywhere else where the coaching is about making you go beyond what you have made acceptable and getting told REAL TALK about yourself and what you need to do to fix that.

Kids today just want a pay check and don’t care if they work hard or not!

I’ve seen projections where he is going as high as #5. None have him outside the lottery. I don’t think his draft position is impacted much, or at all, by his school choice.

players like Langford are a dime-a-dozen in the NBA
he will probably play 8-10 years, make a lot of money and never sniff being a star

He was never coming to UK. He was Adidas bought and paid for through and through. As he has faced better athletes, his NBA ceiling looks a lot like Xavier Henry.

The kid couldn't go to UL or KU because there was so much fire and stuff going on for years with his crew. Adidas and Gatto were in this. Main reason Cal did not get involved much. All of the main Adidas schools were in it for a long time. IU was kind of on outside with not too much talk but some felt were in it as well. Dakich has even said IU was going to get in trouble and most felt it was this recruitment and Adidas ties.

Langford would have been garbage at UK just like he is at IU. Cal isnt a miracle worker. This kid has low bball IQ and poor instincts. People get too worked up about a ranking sometimes. This kid is talented, but not a great bball player. Cal knew that and had no trouble moving on.

We've seen it numerous times where a kid has a ton of talent and gets that 5 star ranking, and then just not being all that good.

He is projected as top 5-7 pick in every mock draft. He is a talent. Keldon Johnson is projected as 8-15 type player.

Romeo probably cost himself over the long term.

Cam Reddish might be the worst off draft position wise as a result of his decision. Had he gone somewhere else he could have played his way up to top two or three potentially versus sacrificing his draft position for the success of the team. I think you can go one-two but not get the top three draft spots. The perceived third guy is almost always going to have to sacrifice.

The NBA is stupid as hell. They keep giving guys that don’t deserve a spot a chance. Guys like Westbrook and Butler should be blackballed from the teams and guys like Langford should go late second round. You’d clean the league up so fast and the game would be enjoyable again. Weed out these crap attitude players. Why do you want Langford? He can’t shoot, he’s not a team guy, and most likely a future cancer.

Hate the NBA of today for what they’ve allowed and what these players are doing to the league.

As had been stated, 6-6 wings are a dime a dozen. Probably the easiest position to fill in the NBA.

Dude doesn’t have plus, plus skills in any area, to use a baseball analogy. You need to have an elite skill(s) at that position to be successful.

Remember how big of a deal the Henry thing was when Cal got here?? I remember wanting him bad, it's crazy to look back on guys like Selby and Henry and all their hype and the fact that they are nowhere to he found these days

He’s still going to go high in the draft and make millions. You don’t have to go to great programs to be a high draft choice.

Edwards is going to do the same thing next year.

But neither give a rat’s butt about competing in college. If they did they both would have gone elsewhere. That’s fine and to each his own but I would rather have a lesser player wanting to do whatever it takes to win it all in college.

Cam is still going to be top 3 pick regardless if he would have gone to Villanova or UK. Maybe scored more but pecking order was always the 3 Duke players and now Zion is for sure the 1, Barrett is probably 2 but many like Reddish because of his size, almost 6'9 and upside. More like Tatum, Barrett is more Luke Kennard but a bit more upside. Think Zion is 1 and Reddish is 2

It's kinda karmic for his dad criticizing Cal's coaching and then being stuck with deer in the headlights Archie Miller.

We’ll see how it plays out but I’ve seen Reddish going fourth or fifth. Win it all and the hype could make it work but come up short and I think it moves him down potentially. All hypothetical but if I were a top pick I’d rather bust *** and play my way up to number two then down to number five.

Thought I had read somewhere that Louisville was actually his favorite school growing up.

Didn't go there because of all the uncertainty around the program.

I think we know why UL was his favorite cough*adidas*cough*$$$*cough

This is kind of harsh, but I’m inclined to say it’s in the right direction. A whole lot of drama around Romeo (or is it Lincoln? After his announcement of selecting IU, it’s easu to be confused), and I don’t think he’s worth it. I won’t say anything too definitive, because anyone can look bad if you put them in a bad enough situation, but I don’t love his game. He’ll get the benefit of the doubt and will still go in the top 10, but my guess is he has an underwhelming pro career.
