Several combinations so far with 6-7 deficeit. Dre in but TK in street clothes.

Taplin did not start but the way he is playing now should have. Birt and Curtis 0-5 from the three.

2 steals with a layup and a dunk in the last 2 minutes with that lineup.

Birt has hope. Curtis is earning the Oswaldo Gonsalez award for JUCO ranking excellence.

3-9 free throws. Game over against teams like Wichita State.

How many missed 3s by Curtis? 5?

If we beat Wichita State, I will change my screen name to Curtis for 3 for one week (except for Game thoughts).

Half time half court shot best entertainment since frisbee dogs and Funky ds.

Is it just me or is TU wifi a complete joke?

Looked like a freshman the last couple of minutes. Strangely officiated game. They call the little things then let 42 mount Dre.

We were up by 17, got their bigs in foul trouble, and then started playing like SE Okla game.

Why is Curtis getting so many minutes ? He isn't guarding w #11 well & we know what his offense is.

Very little. Missed a 3, grabbed the board and split Defenders for nice layup.

I actually like that. Sounds like he's deferring to the vets at this point and letting the game come to him rather then force things.

Teichmann would be OK on the current team. He could hit 3s. I would have liked to see Woj try to coach him, though.

Slow and short. They are scrappy. They have some decent shooters. When we had the main players in, we looked like Memphis against TU in the early Wojcik years.

I thought Rogers State was a decent team...If they were D1, my guess is that they would fall somewhere between the 225-250 RPI range.

I'm not really surprised about TU...They look like the same team over the past couple of years...that shouldn't surprise anyone...they have basically the same roster!

  • Poor outside shooting team...Woodard runs the offensive engine
  • Weak inside offensive game
  • Very good defensively. There were times during the game last night that they were smothering.
Birt - He seems like a good student athlete...very personable and polite to the fans. I see no sign that he will be a key element on this team. Hopefully, he will find a role as a good defensive post option. At this point, I would rather have Rashad Smith shooting a 3 over Birt. His shot looks very odd...and nothing like his high school stroke.

Taplin - Like his game...very smooth and in control. Could be our best shooter by the end of the season.

K. Brown - Good looking athlete...I like his stroke...Much better than Birt's. However, I'm not sure how much he'll help this year.

An absolutely fascinating phenomena - If Curtis took 127 straight 3's, all of his misses would be short...Literally every one of them. Unreal. However, from what I've seen, he is light years ahead of Birt when it comes to passing, ball handling, and court vision. I don't see Birt taking any of Curtis's time.

Woodard looked REAL good...very slick and fast with the ball.

Thanks for the assessment. I agree with most of your comments and not sure why so many are so high on Birt Have now seen him in 1 open practice scrimmage and 2 exhibition games, (1 against a very bad opponent) and he is not showing me much offensively. I keep hoping because for me he is the key to this team being better than last years team. Agree on the surprise of Taplin.

Because it's hard to shoot as poorly as Curtis from the outside. You could probably just throw the ball at the hoop without aiming at all and make roughly the same number of wide open 3's.
