According to reports Will Rogers has a sprained AC joint. If true, this will not heal through the remainder of the season. Supposedly he will try to play through it, but at the least it means a significant decrease in practice reps, if he takes any at all. Why we did not play any of the backups in the second half is a mystery.

Let's put in Lovertich and see what happens.

If Rogers is hurt, then give Lovertich a shot.

I think we're handling it right. If Rogers can play, he's got to play. If he can't, you move on to Lovertich. I might have put Lovertich in the 4th quarter Saturday night, but I don't think Rogers playing is going to injure the shoulder any worse, unless he takes another big hit.

Same thing that made Mike Henig less durable.

No quantifiable metric. I have no clue how strong the dude is. So I could be wrong, but I doubt it. The eye test is generally fairly accurate.

And this not meant to hate on him. I actually respect him for going out there and getting after it, even when everybody is criticizing you.

Mike Henig got hurt and missed time. Last I checked, Rogers hasn't missed a snap yet, and probably won't unless something crazy happens. That's the very definition of durable.

Robertson is way down on the depth chart. Lovertich would be next up. And yeah, it really really sucks that Abraham isn't available right now.

That's fine play next man up and get the reps. Rest Wills arm. Because his throwing arm hurt is just more of a liability for the offense to work

My worry is that's it's going to affect his accuracy which is main thing he has going for him most of the time. His arm strength isn't great and that definitely has been reduced from this kind of injury so I'm worried about him throwing more picks, missing harder to throw routes, or just holding on the ball longer when he doesn't think he can make the throw and he already does that too much.

I wish I could convince all the high schoolers to spend as much time strengthening ligaments and tendons as they do strengthening the big muscles. They cause most of the smaller nagging injuries, but you can't really see them, and they take longer to heal, as it's tougher to get blood to them. And when you get over 40, takes damn near 6 months or more to heal them up.

Yeah, all those basketball players need to strengthen their ACLs! Nevermind that its a ligament which doesnt get blood, they need to strengthen em!***

I think I get what you are trying to say. They need to work on strengthening the local muscles that support ligaments and tendons.

Yes they do. It's poorly circulated, which is why it takes so long for them to heal, but they do get some blood. Much of the healing therapy involves getting blood flow to them. Obviously ligaments are tougher than tendons. Sometimes lagging tendon injuries can heal in a day if you can finally get the right massage that gets blood flow there, after weeks of no healing.

Apologies for keeping it too general earlier. Yes there is blood supply, but for all intents and purposes to the point that is being made, there is no blood supply. Ligaments are part of the body that just sit there and exist vs get built up stronger- that was my point.

Hate to say it, because I appreciate Will’s effort, but…

Give me a QB that is a playmaker that can make something happen. That is asking for the impossible but it is what I feel is missing.

Hell, our defense has kept us in every game but Bama.. which isn’t saying much

May as well let Lovertich have the next couple of games, maybe even all the way through Arkansas, as he earned his way into the backup spot. After that, if he's not effective, you can start bringing in Robertson if needed, because he could play the rest of the year (plus bowl) and still redshirt.

Seems like a no-brainer to me, rather than let Rogers trot out there hurt.

We just need to sit our damn QBs against Bama.

Or run the wishbone every play. Finish the game with 6 total yards and a healthy QB? I'll take it.

Most of the time when our players have joint issues we say it's a "knee", but it sounds like this time it really is a knee

The sprain is nothing but pain. It won't get worse from playing and will be fine as long as Will can take the pain. Im sure he is going to get treatment multiple times a day all week. We have to win at Vandy. If anything I would sit him against Ky but it probly won't help. Its gonna take time to heal.

Pain is your body telling you something is wrong. Rogers playing through the pain is absolutely not a good a good thing for his shoulder. You do not know what you're talking about.

If a doctor's estimation is that the injury can't be worsened by playing through it (which is more common than you realize), then it becomes a pain tolerance issue, but not a "risk of hurting it worse" issue. If it's not affecting his ability to throw the ball, he'll be fine. That's what they'll be looking at in practice this week.
