Not sure how much it matters to athletics, I believe the AD and Rhule report directly to the Nebraska president and not the chancellor after Ted Carter's power play.

In other words he came in, did the dirty work no one else had the guts to do and now is leaving
A friend of mine’s daughter was a Fortune 500 CFO who specialized in cleaning up large companies. Now she’s in her second stint as CEO of another large publicly traded company tasked with cleaning up the financial mess left by the previous CEO. Heads have rolled. Private limo drivers and pilots were axed who literally did nothing 360 days of the year. Private jets sold. Etc. There are executives who specialize in doing the dirty work that needs to be done.

Darn, I liked that guy and thought he was a good leader. At least they didn't extend his contract for 3 more years last year, then decide to go in a different direction and have to buy him out for $1.4M.

He's a good man. If you want to read about his character, look up the Southern Mississippi NCAA men's basketball infractions report from the fall of 2015. He was at Southern Miss at the time and it turned out that he had inherited an absolute low-life named Donny Tyndall as men's basketball coach. Kind of boggling the violations Tyndall committed -- sent his assistants (including future Husker assistant Adam Howard) all over the country to complete academic work for JC players who nobody else was recruiting because their grades were so bad.

Tyndall brought a bunch of these kids to USM, where they were magically eligible. They won a lot of games, which Tyndall parlayed into a million dollar contract to coach Tennessee. That's where he was when the scheme unraveled and was discovered (in fact, by then, Doc Sadler had replaced Tyndall at USM). Bennett took decisive action, cooperating in a thorough investigation (as opposed to, you know, our friends at Michigan), cleaning house, gathering all relevant records, vacating wins, doing everything right. The Committee on Infractions specifically recognized him for all his hard work. He never hesitated to do the right thing. It was refreshing and impressive.

Doc was implicated in zero wrongdoing. But he left USM not long afterwards.

So the regents just voted to give him a million+ dollar severance?

he worked there for two-and-a-half years and resigns early and gets all that?

Did the dirty work. Thank you very much now we’re replacing you with someone the employees won’t despise.
