I have always liked the color of the dirt in the Piscataway area. I mean soil lol. There is actually a singer from New Jersey named Heidi Winzinger who wrote a song about New Jersey soil. Have seen her perform at Albert Music Hall in Waretown. www.heidiwinzinger.com
Front of the yellow lot across from the practice fields, not a replacement for the bubble but in addition. New structure would be football only and the bubble would be lacrosse, soccer and maybe field hockey and track
Figure that job is between $300 million and $500 million, done properly.
I will have probably retired from RU football by the time that kind of money is raised.
I am told that they are already working on that money
The parking spots in close proximity to the Stadium are disappearing.
The Blue Lot will be reduced substantially next season and if the Indoor Facility is built on the Yellow Lot that will be gone.
The indoor facility isn't going to take the whole yellow lot. There's more yellow lot than is needed, at the moment.
If it's just a field house, it's mostly empty space. It's not going to be THAT expensive. Now if they're putting offices, locker rooms, weight rooms, etc, then yeah it could get pretty pricey. All of that is already in the Hale Center though.
If you have a dedicated indoor practice facility then it wouldn't really make sense to continue the current training activities in the Hale Center. JMO.
I actually think there is a better place for it but I do not think they will do it.
If you have been to the hale center parking lot you have seen the tennis courts and the gated lot adjacent to the tennis courts. I think that would be a great place for it a short walk from the hale and the outdoor practice field without taking away parking.. won’t take up the whole yellow lot and would only be a building as the hale center will get a full make over once the Rodkin center is done
Makes sense if it's close by like that and they continue using Hale after the makeover. I would think they could find space somewhere in the athletics area on Busch to relocate the tennis courts and/or maybe build a small facility. If not, perhaps they get bumped over to Livingston somewhere near those other facilities (T&F, baseball, softball) behind the RAC.
A couple of questions. Would it be possible to build the indoor practice facility immediately adjacent to the bubble, to the left in the picture below, bordered by Fitch Road?
With respect to losing tailgating space, Oregon did something smart and monetized the practice facility for tailgating.

From what I was told they would like it to be closer to the Hale center and they also use that grass area for parking at football games ( it is part of the green lot.) that picture actually is good to see where the soccer practice fields will be as the are labeled with an (a) the fields to the left the ones to the right will actually be the Rodkin avenger itself. If you take the tennis court and the adjacent parking lot plus and some of the unused woods next to it you could make a really nice facility as a brick and mortar building without it being crazy expensive.
I think that the a new indoor practice facility should be built where the turf practice field is now. It would still leave 2 grass fields outdoors for practice as well as the stadium field in good weather.

I tell you what. It started to show a bit last season that the golf recruiting is on an upswing, especially the women. Best players on both teams were underclassmen. It may be low on the list of important sports but every bit helps.

Never noticed that beyond the Tennis Courts and next to the artificial turf practice field there is large areas of open grass. Not sure if that is private property or owned by Rutgers. Would be a great area for Parking during football games.
I believe that would be Barchi's backyard. They aren't allowing parking on the lawn of the President's residence.
I do not know if this is true, but I was told by someone at a basketball game that Dr. Barchi does not live on campus, but commutes from the Philadelphia area.
A indoor practice facility is basically a wearhouse structure, there is not much to them. Think more like 20 million depending how fancy they get. RU just has other priorities before just jumping into giving football everything right away.
Like another poster said, you can fit this where the 3rd practice field is in the new complex. They didn't do any work over there during the construction of the new fields. I have to think that is an area this will be considered. You are mostly building up and don't need to have a very wide building.

I heard golf facilities were definitely next. Both golf teams seem to be on the rise and recruiting well.
I just don't think you'd be able to fit a field house there. Looking at that map, a field house will be roughly the size of the bubble, maybe a tiny bit smaller. The best spot imo is between the Cornelius Low House and the Hale Center parking lot. Basically right on top of where the tennis lot and courts are and into the small wooded area. This way it's adjacent to the outdoor complex and very close to the Hale center. You could even put a little indoor walkway from the Hale Center for when it rains/snows.
Problem is, we just have to build a new tennis complex. Which, honestly is needed anyway to bring it up to conference standards.
No, looking at the google map there is plenty of space to the top towards Lot 48 & Sutphan Rd and towards the right side where the stands are
to fit a field house. Just zoom in the map for a closer look.
Rutgers has never understood that the one great thing we have over other schools is the tailgating scene. They continue to diminish this asset year after year.
When the Yellow & Blue lots (which in my freshman year included all of what is now the visitors center, Yurczak field, Campus Road and the circle, The University Park intramural complex and Werblin) are finally gone, then I'm out.
AND they continue to harass those who actually go to the games. I've had a couple drop from my tailgate because of what they've gone through either in the lots or entering the stadium.
String a couple of w’s, W’s or W’s (in bold) and no one will care or they will adapt.
Because that’s what Rutgers really has never understood...winning trumps all (tailgating, uniform choices, kickoff times, etc.).

I'm not so sure. Yes, we put together the wins and some of those who left will come back. But others will not. In another thread someone brought up the issue of how those people who left have found other activities to occupy their Saturdays and are unlikely to return. And I agree with that, once you get out of the habit of being a regular tailgater and attendee, it's hard to justify the time and expense to come back to the fold.
Well I think the W > a brat and a beer in the Yellow/Blue/Purple....
With just a taste look what happened....was tailgating fun? Yes it was and yes it still is. But we all went into the game too. Your best time wasn't in the parking lot, it was in the stands.
Now...not so much.
Bring it back and it will.
"The Alley" was only supposed to be the beginning as that's the spot were it would have expanded if it worked out.
