Is the problem his delivery? He seems to throw side arm and this is why so many passes get batted down or thrown into the dirt, When he throws the deep ball his mechanics change and misses wide open receivers. In addition he cant seem to locate the open receiver. We should have seen this coming. Why do you think he has the most active QB starts in FBS?

Scarily, it points back to Matt Campbell not being able to get a better one.

I think he is a limited athlete, short....doesnt move very well, doesnt see the field very well, and the coaches do him no favors keeping him in a pocket he can't see over....plus, he been totally abandoned by a run game which makes life tough on any QB

He looked way better when Howard was on the field, but the last two games have been really bad- Dose not look like a 5th year senior.

He just needs to work a little harder, like he said after the Wisconsin loss. CVLion understands the value of hard work in football. CVLion lives a dandy life, that’s for sure!

His issues are mental right now. He doesn't have his #1 WR. Northwestern knows he's trying to get the ball put quickly which lead to tons of hands going up. Then those batted balls got in his head. We rolled him out on the first play of the game and he threw a great ball. You have to put players in a position to succeed. We aren't right now.

All that said...I'd have benched him at the half

Pretty obvious he doesn't have what it takes to play in the BIG. Time to see what Manske does. Yes. Not having Howard hurts. But he has great tight ends and Sowell is decent.

His throws arent close to being accurate. Zero pocket presence. Zero downfield vision.

With that being said, he isnt at the top of this teams problems.

You all realize he's beat Iowa and played very well against them, right?
The main issue is he doesn't have Howard--you're underselling that. It's like the Vikings losing Justin Jefferson or the Lions not having Amon Ra St Brown. The offense is built around them. Use Tyler Warren from 2024 if you prefer.

Something keeps telling me that Rocco is trying to play through an injury. He just looks so much different from Week 1, in all aspects of his game

Who are you? You have no clue what you’re talking about. Time for you to find a new hobby; this forum, and PSU football, are better without you.

I know exactly what I'm talking about kiddo
Check MC's resume
See how the offense looks without Howard
Reality big guy--embrace it.

He’s not the same QB since coming back from the injuries. Some guys never get back. I’m not sure why Campbell is trying to force something that is obviously not there anymore.

And he needs a step ladder to get his passes over the line. I've never seen a QB get so many passes batted down.
Athletically he just looks completely overwhelmed. I don't think he can see the field and when he does his balls are being knocked down. And then he seems very nervous and is airmailing wide open receivers.
Another huge problem is Campbell seems loyal to a fault relative to his players and his staff. Ebel is another kid that is horrendous. He makes deluca look like Shane conlan. He's slow, soft, and has zero instincts. Put Tasch and Rohas on the field.
Riker has also been a disaster. He's too small and he's getting destroyed in the run game and pass game.

You really need to stop with the kiddo stuff…it doesn’t make you sound smarter like you think it does. It’s just arrogant and off putting.

And maybe that's right but he wasn't missing wide open guys the first 3 weeks--a lot is mental
I do agree he should have been benched by half (if not earlier) yesterday

If our offense depends in one player, thay is a big problem especially since no one knows how Howard would do in the Big 10.

So after the injuries he would be a good FCS QB.

I'm pretty sure the intent is to sound arrogant. Listen, if this child wants to attack I'm not going to care if I'm "off putting"
Be adult and I won't say "kiddo" or anything else condescending.

Potentially--or this is largely mental. We'll see if they game plan better against USC but the hook needs to be quick if he starts like he did yesterday
They have shown an inability to game plan against anyone.

Not disagreeing here either--the "adjustments" at the half yesterday were non-existent.
They have 7 days to prep for USC--get it done
The season now hinges on beating either USC or Michigan…we’re already in a spoiler role. I just don’t see it happening.

Coach isn't going to pull Rocco before USC. Might as well let him take his beating there and at UM since no chance to win that one. I don't want Manske to start in those games, get Belt to Azz, and have his confidence eroded. If we lose the next two, start Manske against Purdue, and begin working on next year.

I don't buy the "he doesn't have Howard" excuse. He didn't have Howard when he beat Iowa. His top four targets from last year are now with him this year.

And last year he wasn't great against Iowa--only 130 or so yards.
2024 was when he was great against Iowa with Jaylin Neal (now with Houston/3rd round pick) and Jayden Higgins (also now with Houston/2nd round pick)
He needs an elite WR--like many QBs

No one gives a rat's *** what he did against Iowa.

PSU doesn't owe Rocco s**t - or any of these transfer players. Not a thing. They have been coddled for the last 9 months, probably don't go to school, and live in settings and facilities that they could have only dreamed of.

Rocco had one job - stay upright, and hit our receivers in the hands. Not the defensive player's hands. He has failed miserably, and needs to be replaced tomorrow.

Ummm--it's not a Big Ten issue if he's done it against Big Ten school
No one owes any player anything--including those that stayed.
Rocco was horrible the last two weeks--I'd have benched him last week--but your post makes it clear you're just mad about what college football has become so you're not thinking clearly. Take a breath and try again.
