Looked at Mavericks box score last night, did not see Roby. Did I miss something, is he hurt?

He's a rookie who has been assigned to their developmental league where he will get more experience and development than he would sitting on the bench or coming in for limited minutes in the NBA. I think you'll see him shuffled back and forth at various times throughout the year in this way.

He is blessed with an NBA body and elite athleticism, but as we all witnessed at Nebraska, he is far from a finished product.

The cool thing for Roby is that guaranteed contract so it doesn't matter which league he's getting his experience in. The times I watched him play in the preseason he looked like he belonged. It's nice to actually have a Husker to root for in the NBA.

Yep. The money is guaranteed. Great for that kid. It is nice to see a Husker in the NBA and I hope at some point he plays.

Yeah getting NBA money to play in the G League is really the best situation he could be in. He's not going to get better sitting on the bench.

I thought he’d play early with them being so thin in the front court and him getting that record deal for a second rounder, but I agree he’s in the best situation he could ask for with his current state of development.

I don't know where Dallas's G League team is located, but I read that Roby will still practice with the big boys and play games in the G League for now. Other than his outside shooting he looked really good in preseason. I saw him play 17 minutes one game and he had a bunch of assists and rebounds.

In a couple years when he matures a bit, he could be a problem. Played too soft at NU but his body looked like it was still developing.

He can move up to Dallas and back to Frisco an unlimited amount of times. The Legends don’t start games until November 8. I believe he has to be on the Mavs roster in order to practice with the team.

again from what I read out of the Dallas papers and websites, the Mavericks do not expect him to play much with them this season unless there are injuries.

my point is, don’t follow the transaction line for an indication of him playing. He will be on the move a bunch this season.

One of the stories I read a while back on Roby said that while he's gaining playing experience he's going to be a valuable tool for giving them a big athletic body for practice. It's very easy for them to bring him in for a home stand and then ship him back. He needs to improve his 3 point shooting by 10-20% and then I would think he could stay up. He's kind of got Dennis Rodman's athletic ability with a lot more capability on the offensive end. He needs to get more intense.
