In all seriousness, he's OUR #1 player in the portal.

I think it's between him and Flory from Kansas for the #1 overall portal guy. We have Moreno, so we're not going to be in the Flory recruitment.

Rob Wright has already proven that he is an elite PG. He instantly raises your floor and your ceiling. He's the kind of guy that flips the contender switch by himself. Other guys will want to play with that dude.

You HAVE to make this one be about something other than money. By that I mean--don't lose because of money. If the # is 4 million, it's just 4 million. If it's 5, it's 5. I'd almost think/hope you could work out some type of 2 year deal where he agrees to NOT leave for the portal next year but is promised 10 million over 10 years for agreeing to it. That's a lot money. It's absolutely insane. But if we're serious about getting back to being a contender and being relevant--you've gotta get this guy.

Trilly said early race is between Arkansas and Kentucky. Arkansas already has like 3 5 star recruits in their back court. Is Cal going to take Rob and risk losing one of his prized freshmen?
I don’t think the five stars include a point guard though. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Any ky fan that believes the worst recruiter in the history of our program is gonna beat out one of the best recruiters in college basketball for a top guard is absolutely insane. Unbelievable how gullible some fans are this time of year.

Lord these anon posters 😂 always talking about how dumb everyone is and dont even know how to make a username 😂

Not saying your wrong, but BYU did have the #1 draft pick on that team! How far did they make it in the tournament? You would think with Dybantsa and wright (if he is a game changer) they should've made elite 8 or better!
They lost the heart and soul on that team when Richie Saunders blew his knee out. They more than likely make a deep run if he stayed healthy

Why not Mike? Should a regular student as opposed to an athlete be able to "get" over a million dollars. Your takes get dumber and dumber. Maybe take some time off and regroup
A regular student doesn't get paid to go to school other than getting a scholarship. If a regular student worked for the school then I doubt it would be much more than minimum wage. There is a huge difference man. Don't play dumb.

A regular student doesn't generate the revenue that a basketball player does.the money comes from boosters and revenue sharing.

Thanks for proving my point. Who said anything about working "for the school"? A regular student is not limited to how much he or she can make. Why should the athlete be? Mike's point was a dumb one. So answer why an athlete should be limited to what they earn if someone is willing to pay them? That's pretty communistic if you ask me.

All you are doing is strengthening my point....that they are not comparable. Apples to oranges
It's not apples to oranges at all. What if a company identifies a top chemistry student and wants to pay him a million or more while he's still in school? Should he be prohibited from earning that? Something tells me you'd be ok with that and it's the same thing exactly

Apparently it's the caffeine in Coffee and tea that are a no-no. Different rule for sure. But not my culture or religion to understand or criticize.
Yea my brother in law is Mormon and he and his family drink the hell out of some coke but no coffee or tea. To each their own.

Something like that never happens. NEVER! So yes it is apples to oranges. You're just too dense to see it. Even if it ever did happen the student would be getting paid to work for a company , not the school. Completely different for an athlete who is getting paid to play sports for the school. Stop playing dumb. And don't give me it's NIL bs. It's not nil , these players are getting paid to come to the school to play a game. Pay to play.

Talk about dense. Sorry you hate capitalism. That was a weak effort at trying to make a distinction. Extremely lame effort. Someone or done entity wants to pay a college student an obscene amount and you only have a problem with the athlete who is getting paid to "play a game" as if those "games" are not part of a multi billion dollar industry. So why don't you tell us, Comrade what exactly is the problem is other than you don't think they should be paid what someone is willing to pay? And why do you only want to place a limit on what someone can earn if they "play a game." I'd love to hear your rationale, Trotsky.

I'm sorry, I didn't read all the posts. But are you talking about Calipari, and is it your belief that he is trying to build the best roster to chase a title? Personally, I don’t.

I believe Calipari’s primary goal next season is the same it’s been since 2014 or so, which is to get as many of his freshmen into the draft as possible. I don’t think he’s bringing in a Guard that may detract from any of the freshmen. On the other hand, if he thinks Wright will be drafted in the 1st round after next season AND it won’t detract from any of the freshmen – in particular Jordan Smith being the star - then he might legitimately try to get Wright (as opposed to only feigning an effort to do so).

Some of these early entry PGs we spoke with are going to wish they signed when they had the chance before they get left without a bag. This portal is such uncharted territory and it seems like every player wants more than the offer no matter what it is. Then they take time to see if they get more and lots of them are going to end up with less.

Give Rob what he wants and let's land the first domino already.

Value isn’t based on how good you think he is — it’s based on what the people funding the sport are willing to pay.
Where did I say it was? I compared to NBA players who are clearly better but making less. Unless you are saying that it's my opinion and not fact that NBA players are better than college players...I know what value is,I had economics in college just like most of you. Not that I needed to know what drives market value. So what is it you are wanting to impress every here with by saying I'm wrong? And maybe I am wrong, but you're not doing a very good job of proving it.

If you’re Pope, this is why you don’t burn bridges with boosters. They’re hungry too, they’ll pay right now if the product is promising and you have been really good to them. That’s an issue with him, he takes these Barnhart stances and people don’t like it. We’ll see where it goes.

Oh? Do tell, Comrade. How specifically am I "clueless" on this issue? I asked you to explain the distinction and why there should be one. And all you've done is claim I am "clueless" and think I'm "smart" but I'm really a "dum dum." Let's hear exactly what the distinction is and why the athlete should be limited to how much money he/she can make and why he/she shouldn't get it even though someone is willing to pay it. I guess you're telling us that if another employer tried to poach you from whomever it is you work for and pay you an exorbitant amount, you'd turn it down. I thought we were all free market capitalists here and not communists. So why out of every category of labor is a college athlete prohibited from receiving what the market has determined his/her value to be. Make that make sense. I'm all ears.
