Nobody comes and watches the "common student" in the chemistry lab. And there's nothing preventing the "common student" from earning a million dollars if someone wants to pay it. I'm sure it's above your level of understanding but it really is simply a supply and demand thing. You're worth what someone is willing to pay you. Plus the players are the "labor" as it were. And I always root for the labor to get as much as it can from the stuff suits.

It doesn’t matter what someone could make it on. It matters what their skills, experience, talent goes for in a market. Do you go into job interviews asking for what you are worth or just an arbitrary set amount that anyone could live off while all the money goes to your boss.

Their market value is way over inflated and this isn't sustainable. Many of these players are making more then NBA players and no where near as good. Them being paid is one thing, but being paid way more than they should ever be at this level will is ridiculous. I've said this since nil started, and this isn't nil either, it's pay to play. There needs to be structure and limits put in place or this will continue to spin out of control.

How good they will be will be determined within the next week. Problem is Pope is still the coach and his ceiling as a coach isn't that high IMO.
