You cant have it both ways: You cant decry a liberal for being a snowflake for being upset about something not going their way and then be the victim when it is your viewpoint.

Just being upset by something isn't what being a "snowflake" refers to. If that's what it was, it would be pretty meaningless because everybody would be a snowflake.

Of course I'm not joking. I know you're trying to troll people, but too many people on the internet haven just started calling everybody who disagrees with anything a "snowflake." The term's just a meaningless way of dismisisng anybody who disagrees with you now.

The term was always meaningless drivel. The fact that you/other ITT think it isnt is beyond laughable.

Always funny to me that people actually think the Civil War was over slavery...it wasn't. Lincoln offered to preserve slavery for the South...it didn't change a thing.

For the record, slavery was awful & would've eventually been outlawed everywhere...just b/c people fought for the South doesn't mean they all agreed with it...

If it was not about slavery then why did SC make that a central point in their written declarartion when they left the Union?

its always been about labeling someone you disagree with, has it not? or are we to believe that it was, at one point, a legitimate term? i equate it to calling a uscjr fan a coot

@jimbob1019, keep up man. I think you are supposed you join @CLT-Tiger in being outraged.

He's got a group of snowflakes getting together next week for some rum and diet. You should reach out see if you can get involved.

Week 1 topic: how does the modern white man celebrate his slaver heroes without everyone thinking he is racist.

Also, glad you made it clear that you find slavery abhorrent. Because that's totally not just an assumed thing normal human beings agree on. AMIRITE @FreeSC

FreeSC @ Freesc, will not respond to anyone who disagrees with them when they detail facts in their rebuttal. He is what I would call a "hit and run" poster.
There were slaves in southern Illinois.

Well, if they were then there is zero credible historical evidence that Lincoln owned any. I am sure some holocaust denial types believe this but virtually no historians do and there is zero evidence to support he owned any.

The libs in America are a much better comparison to the Nazis & I guess they'll have to be the next to get their asses kicked by the red, white, & blue....b/c let's face it, no group has ever hated America as much as them...

Well I know several that have fought for this country. Not sure how they can be a hater and do that! They don't hate America, just the version you desire it to be.

No, not exactly. It was being used to refer to people who claimed real, disabling psychological stress whenever they encountered things they didn't like. These people claimed they needed trigger warnings on everything potentially controversial, needed safe spaces when controversial speakers were invited to college campuses, etc. In general, though, it refers to people who are too emotionally vulnerable to deal with views different from their own. It only really became meaningless when it became an internet term of abuse, which is probably just when you became aware of it.

Heck, just look up "generation snowflake" on Wikipedia.

the bolded part is very vague and why it applies to all the whiny bitches on both sides of the spectrum...i mean this thread is the 12th thread or so started about this subject alone

That really isn't all that vague. Just posting something on the internet about something you disagree with wouldn't qualify as displaying excessive emotional vulnerability. If you claimed to be triggered by taking down statues to be point of not feeling safe, then the "snowflake" label would make more sense.

Confederates were traitorous, incestuous, insurgent, domestic terrorists who were rightfully put in their correct place by God almighty, Sherman and Grant.

Burning all record of them from history is a good thing

I always thought of the snowflakes as being the ones who needs a safe space because they can't cope with reality, not someone who gets upset about a genuine issue.

Masterfully put? Ha! What an idiot!
What will be next? What will be offensive to you libs tomorrow? I hope the ghosts of the Confederate dead haunt every last one of you who wish to destroy history and Southern Heritage by taking down the monuments. Changes nothing.

lol at southern heritage. lady, my family has as much "southern history" as anyone. there is nothing prideful to take away from that period in time. no one is "erasing history" as people like @Willence have ridiculously suggested; they're merely taking away symbols that glorify despicable acts by despicable men.

How about we take away rap music that glorifies violence against women? And drugs? Are you down with that?

You're really a piece of work. Wanting monuments removed because you feel like the Confederates were wronging others.... yet wishing death on someone and being stoked about them dying because they disagree with you. Can you see what a fuggin lunatic you are?

No.

Did slave labor build and man the shipping and fishing fleets? Build canals, railroads, airports, skyscrapers? Did they build our banking and finance systems? Settle and tame the frontier? Farms of the Midwest? Ranches in the West? The auto industry, tech industries? No.
Since you refuse to answer my questions I will be a gentleman & answer yours for you:
1. Shipping & fishing fleets, yes & please look into what cities & states were "Initial Shipping & Fishing Fleet.
2. Banking, yes as millions were made in income, commerce & insurance directly related to the slave trade.
3. 4. 5. Frontier, Midwest Farms & Ranches (Same question associated with western settlement) not directly as most was accomplished after slavery was abolished. However, money for such expansions west were made on the back of uncompensated laborers, slavery is indirectly associated with such!
6. Auto & tech industry, airport, skyscrapers not directly. However, I would love to know where families money for most of these came from.
Railroad I believe were on the labor of Asians, so no comment!

Now, please take the time & answer how free labor, slavery directly attributed to America growth, personal/ownership, free American growth, From 1619 to 1865 America was built with the help of free laborers, Slavery...Now Did America Profit & Grow during that period?
