Roberson to SMU

He was a bust. We needed depth behind the top 4 WR and he couldn’t help. He wasn’t an instant hit like they hoped. Not as explosive as they thought, hoped and needed the weight room. He wasn’t going to play much again with Simmons eligible now. Sills, Simmons, Sims, Jennings are top 4 and very good.
He also knew we have some good WRs coming in. SMU needs help. He went to lower level to play more.

This is a great fit for him. Good luck to the young man. He wore the school colors without issues or embarrassment.
Yeah, as a team they threw for 3900 yards and 38pts/game. They need help...

Why didn’t he impact here? We clearly throw the ball. Grier and OC weren’t comfortable with backup WRs even playing. That’s how bad they made it sound.

He was a true freshman. How many catches did Shelton Gibson have his true freshman season? None. He was redshirted.
How about his REDSHIRT freshman season? (Answer: 4) Gibson then went on to catch 17 TDs his 2nd and 3rd seasons here,
then get drafted and make an NFL Roster. My point is that Roberson was only a true freshman.
Roberson last year was playing behind White, Jennings, Sills, and Simms. All older players who paid their dues.
Roberson is a good football player. He will be missed. Not saying he is irreplaceable but he would have added depth this year and then very likely been a 2 year starter. We got Simmons, that's good. He likely surpassed Roberson from what we hear and that caused Roberson to make a decision.
Don't trash a kid (Roberson) for choosing to transfer down to SMU to possibly play more and be closer to home. I'm disappointed that he did for my selfish reasons of being a WVU alum and fan but the kid has a right to make a decision which he feels is best for his future.

He was not a bust , but our season was with a 7-6 record . Let’s hope we find away to win a couple of games we are not favored in this year
