Anybody planned any road trips yet? Wife and I just started talking about which road games we wanted to try and make.

Albuquerque looks almost like a done deal. Hopefully more to come.

Would like to make Atown, but not likely with a baby on the way. If you need some places to see while you are there, hit me up.

Congrats on the Baby on the way! I will certainly take you up on the suggestions. I have only driven through Albq. Never spent any time there.

My favorites are all in Santa Fe, which is less than an hour away. Horseman's Haven is a burger place that made Anthony Bourdain. Pasqual's is stupid good if you can get in. I like Tia Sophia's a lot.

We spend most of our time in Las Vegas (NM) when we go. It's two hours from Atown. Charlie's Spic and Span is worth the drive for breakfast and kinda sorta on the way back. It's next to a place called Dick's Liqours. Dick's is currently under renovation with a sign that promises a "bigger, better Dick's." Prolly worth the photo op.

My favorite in Atown is Frontier. It's next to UNM. Good burritos. On the other hand, if you fly, UNM is pretty much next to the airport.

UNM kind of sucked last time. Fans were jerks and threw things at us (and I was well behaved for once). Parking seemed easy; it's next to Pit and where Isotopes play. I think they had beer inside stadium.

There will be four of us making the drive to New Mexico. Going to stay in Santa Fe, world class restaurants there. Like Gold said, Santa Fe is about an hour north of Albuquerque. If you don't feel like driving after the game, there is a train that shuttles back-and-forth between the two towns.

Looking further ahead, road trips to Columbus Ohio and to Annapolis are definites.

Columbus was a definite until we moved...now thinking a trip back to Tulsa (or 2!) would be preferable next season.

We're pondering SMU and Tulane this year, will have Houston in 2016 in 2018 and maybe both Texas and Texas State in 2018. In Rajin Cajuns in 2019. #makingthemostoflivinginhouston

If somebody goes to the UNM message board, we could find out a good sports bar to have a pregame TU gathering.

I'm ready for the follow on years. I live close to DC now and would definately hit Annapolis for the navy game. ECU is doable. Uconn is a 5 hour drive for me.

I'm also saving my nickles & dimes for the trip to Annapolis next year. The history, pomp & pageantry at the Academy is too much to pass up for this old sailor(not to mention the crabcakes). On the other hand, our bowl game this year at a location "reasonably close" would be tough to pass up.

Considering the UNM trip. Is there a section of the stadium for visitors or where other TU fans are buying tickets?

Buy the cheapest ticket you can find and then come sit with us in the visitors section. I'm sure there will be plenty of room. We will be the ones wearing blue.

Im looking for an IHG hotel in Albuquerque, in a nice area that has good eats and maybe some shopping. doesn't have to be close to campus. any suggestions?

Three places worth trying in Santa Fe: Horseman's Haven, Tia Sophia, and Pasqual's. 10,000 waves is a good spa. All I got in Atown is Frontier. Wish I was there. Have fun.

Had to cancel the trip this AM when no. 2 became ill. I'll be eating the two game tickets. This, of course, insures a TU win.

Welcome to Santa Fe! I somehow spaced that this game was in ABQ, I might have to make the drive down tomorrow and watch. Don't get too many opportunities to see TU in action.

I'll second all of Gold's suggestions, with the note that Tia Sophia's is (usually) far easier to get a table at than Pasquals. If both are crowded, I recommend breakfast at the "Pantry". It's out on Cerillos road a bit, but it's fantastic, and might have them both beat anyways. The only reason it is third on my list for breakfast is because I can't walk there.

La Choza is amazing New Mexican dinner. You'll want reservations, and it can be hard to get in. However, they don't take reservations for their very large bar area, which includes decent-sized tables. So if you show up around 5-5:30 you can usually get a table without a reservation. Try the stuffed sopaipilla.

It is prime Green Chile season, and the Farmer's Market in the Railyard will be in full swing tomorrow morning starting at 7 AM. If you're into it, swing by there and get yourself a few bags of roasted green chiles before heading down to the game. They freeze well and last all winter. Last year, I literally had half my freezer full of them and still ran out before May. :(

I'll also second the Spic 'n Span in Las Vegas as being top-notch if you have a bit of extra time on the way back.

And Gold, congratulations on the baby! I have one on the way myself.

I did UNM last time we played them. Across from campus there is a classic diner filled with students. Game day tradition and all that... Then check out campus. Very neat (they are a desert state and they embrace it).

Stadium is poorly designed. Everyone is filtered to on end for bathrooms and concessions. So there is always a clog of people.

Surrounded by a sea of parking lots. So if "plenty of parking" is your thing...

Tia Sophia

Good rec. Tamales were some of the best I've ever had. Don't understand why they try to pass red chili off as salsa, though.

Spent about an hour talking with the owner after lunch. He's a good dude.

The year I lived there, I went there every week. The salsa thing is goofy, but I've come to believe it's really it's own separate style of food and it doesn't matter if they have chips and salsa. But that's a whole other interesting conversation.

The green chile burger at Horseman's is a must.
