This is good for UK, but I don't understand the announcement.....o_O
It's surprising, and you have to wonder if he changed his mind at the last second- and whether he might change it again later on.

Based on the year he was born, he would be eligible for the 2020 NBA draft, and that's usually the driving factor with these decisions.

Holy moly! I'm shocked by the announcement with everyone thinking he was going to go 2019. You think this has to be really good news for you UK or at least increases our odds. Also makes you wonder if he's decided to wait to see what the NBA's going to do.

This is going to sound like homerism, but you'll see I've been saying that Hampton is a Duke versus KU battle for a while now.
Oh yeah?

RJ Hampton visiting for Big Blue Madness
Now confirmed to be in the 2020 class, Hampton is taking steps to narrow his list of potential schools.
By Jamie Boggs@jamiewboggs Sep 1, 2018

“Outside of Memphis, I feel like the schools making me a priority are Texas, Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and recently Michigan has told me they are prioritizing me and want me to be their point guard,” Hampton said.

On September 13th, Hampton will accompany Team USA teammate Jalen Green on a visit to see the Memphis Tigers where they will meet with Penny Hardaway and his staff, who Hampton seems to think a lot of.

“What sticks out about them to me is how hard they’ve recruited me and the coaching staff they have in coach Penny, coach Mike Miller and coach Sam Mitchell,” Hampton told Daniels. “All three of them have years and years and years of NBA experience.”

The junior guard will then visit the Kansas Jayhawks and Kentucky Wildcats this fall during their midnight madness events. Kansas’ Late Night in the Phog practice will take place on September 28th, and Hampton will wrap up this round of visits at Big Blue Madness on October 12th."

I am not saying he is not being recruited by or is not considering other schools, I am saying that it has long been speculated it has been a two horse race. Of course a darkhorse could surface or he could skip college all together.

I thought the article read more like Memphis was the favorite and has been for a while.

LOL. Anthony could go to Pepperdine to play his college ball and would be top 2 pick. He does not need to be THE man. He is THE man. Best guard to come along in a long time. Kid is a SUPERSTAR.
Personally, I've never watched the kid play. But, best guard to come along in a long time?! Mmmmm I'm not so sure about all that. How long is a "long time"? Are we even sure he's the best guard in THIS class?

What the hell does there’re mean. Not a spelling nazi just wondering if that is an word. I’ll hang up and wait for your reply. Note: I screw up all the time and the professors let me know.

Watch the kid play, then YOU form your opinion. I wish we where one of the favorites for him and had a real shot at him, he is that special of a talent.

I see. Texas kid. That would make it a Duke, KU, UK or NBA race. I don't see Memphis in this.
You don't?

Cole Anthony and Maxey faced off in the Peach Jam, earlier this summer and Anthony could not score when Maxey was on him. If we get Quickly back to go with Maxey and Whitney on the perimeter, that team could turn out to be special as well, just need some bigs, namely Carey and Oscar..

Would imagine this does bode well for Kentucky, his 2019 reclass talk was mainly Duke putting propaganda out there that he was gonna reclass and come there, trying to pressure the kid to commit. He will end up being a special player for whoever lands him..

I believe Duke tried the same thing with Armando Bacot. He ended up staying in the 2019 class and committed to UNC.

Take that Coack ShitaChevaskie! [laughing]

Yeah they did, made the mistake of pretty much telling Bacot he was a backup plan to Carey and Stewart, while Roy priortized him at North Carolina, he is a good family Christian kid, never did get hyped into the agents and being a surefire one and done, like Duke tries to make them believe, always is the difference between there recruits and other schools. They baby and coddle there recruits to the draft, while other coaches namely Cal makes his players actually better by working and being an actual teammate..
