while the NCAA is selective, the feds probably wont be. hope Duke gets smacked.

I'd like to think that's totally true but it all depends on who you know. If we've learned anything about the FBI we've learned that politics operates there too. It's not out of the realm of possibilities that Coach K can have some friends look out for him

I always go with my gut on these recruits. I thought we would get Knox and I think we get Barrett. Just feels right. My gut also tells me nobody in this thread has any true "sources" whatsoever. And the ones gnashing their teeth about our recruiting downturn seriously need to take a break from all this. We will be just fine regardless.

So it's likely they got him graduated HS, enrolled at Duke, and he'll play this season?

I heard that K is trying to have the NCAA factor in his points per game average and alter scores from last season. They may be named NCAA champs for last year once it is all sorted out.

Barrett gave the coaching staff a verbal commitment yesterday. Announcement coming soon. This is being reported by Duke insiders.

Barrett may go to Duke, but I still believe think the reason cut ties with Shittu had to do something with the staff feeling confident in getting Barrett.

Jeff "I will do anything to get a recruit" Capel.

As a side note how many of those 15 5* recruits are stars in the NBA? A heck of a lot less than the ones who went to UK.

Chase Jeter, Derryck Thorton and Marques Bolden are still in college and not moved on to NBA. '17 would be excluded due to NBA rules.

I’ve had a couple life events that have taken away my time over the past month, birth of a child to be more specific. If you’d like some specifics, players from Kansas include Andrew Wiggins, Embiid and Joshua sh Jackson. UCLA kris Wilkes, just to name a few

Do you know which Duke players?

I don't know a damn thing and have never claimed to,but I've got a Kentucky Mountain Saddle horse that's very intelligent and picked John Wall,Anthony Davis, and Karl-Anthony Towns correctly.
I asked him this morning where Barrett was going,if it's UK he scratches the ground with his right front hoof,if it's Duke or UNC he ***** in his stall, this morning he used his right front hoof to scratch the ground.
So take what you want out of it,Buster the horse has a better track record than most of the Recruiting "Experts"
Oh,and Duke is getting busted by the Feds I hear tell,my Gelbvieh Bull has the inside on FBI investigations [winking]

FWIW, most Crystal Ball Experts had Barrett as a Dukie way before Cal coaching the national team. It was around that time that it seems Cal made a push, so aside from last nights news, it was trending in our direction. And again, still not sure last nights news is noteworthy.

1. He still has Oregon, his most recent visit
2. Kentucky had an in-home visit last week (along with the on-campus visit).
3. Duke then had their in-home a few days ago.

I don't think that automatically means Duke got the verbal, they very well could have given their last pitch, and RJ didn't bite, and knows it's Kentucky (or Oregon).

With Cal changing his tactic to start recruiting early, which he only started doing a few weeks back.. it's possible we may just have to grin and bare it for another year. We won't see the effects for a little while/

Weren't the Duke insiders just as confident with Knox? Slater, Rowe, and Watson all picked Duke on the Crystal Ball.

Remember when Cal visited Barrett and it was because the school that's trailing always wants more face time to catch up and then Duke visited and it was evidence that he's committing there?
But that doesn't give people enough to panic about so they can't think that way LOL.

Yeah getting a top 2 class with 3 top 15 players at the very least just makes me want to grin and bear it [eyeroll]

Yes they were. They felt good about Knox, but didn't have any actual inside info like they do with guys like Reddish, Carter, and Jones.

There's strong confidence here but no direct inside info from what I have seen. Also someone said above that Duke insiders said he gave a verbal yesterday. I haven't seen that anywhere.

I think the confidence they have is from Duke being on him early and his "dream school" being Duke from some Canadian scouts. I'm a Duke fan who in no way thinks this is a done deal.

Who are the other two? We have one recruit.

Duke might not be done after this either. He's clearly selling kids on playing time with NO idea if Carter, Bolden, Duval, Trent and others may be back.

And what I mean by grin and bare it, I mean Duke's recruiting for the next few years before he retires. Let's assume for a second they get RJ.. Again that's 3 top8 players(two of whom are very highly regarded), whoever else he cons to come back, whoever else he lies to, to get them to come to Duke, and whatever nonsense the NCAA throws his way..

You do enough of those things, you're going to have an overwhelming chance at a title. If Cal was a scummer who did the above, Christ, 4-5 titles? Can you imagine him lying to keep Cousins back to play with Knight, Lamb and Jones where we walk to a 2010 title while playing a bunch of mid-majors because Cousins shoots 30 free throws because you can't breath on him?

Then Duke's strong confidence is no different then UK's strong confidence this committing early not being UK is assanine Nah seen it before duke is scrambling. Hearing way to many positive things about UK and since UK coaches dont run their mouths and Dukes do then that means the positive buzz is coming from the players camp

yeah the only recruit that slater has gotten wrong in regards to duke
No its not what's up with the duke liars one dude claiming insiders say he verbaled and one of ur own exposed that lie. Slater has changed his pick right before the announcement a dozen times dude real easy for ur track record to stay solid that way. If Slater has duke listed with hours before announcement to go then talk til then Realize u guys coming over here to try and lie reaks of desperation sad really

Carter, Reddish and Tyus' lil bro weren't exactly tough to sniff out..
Except its not true. Slater isn't locked into that pic just going on what he knows he has had duke a dozen times for a kid and changed his pick off of duke hours before announcement. Yeah UKs staff quit talking dukes staff does talk just like with Knox.

What I meant by that was those 3 recruits had Duke written on their forehead for quite some time (or maybe they didn't and it was Duke blowing smoke which turned out to be true..).

Slater picking those 3 on ANY part of their timeline was never ground breaking. I mean, Tre Jones to Duke? Oooo, that's a toughie!

I said above the insiders have no real inside info on this so I'm not sure why people are saying the Duke staff are running their mouths here. If they were, most would consider that inside info which there doesn't appear to be any of.

Also running their mouths would just end up making them look bad if the player ends up going elsewhere.

Which bring up another point of how many transfers they have had in the past 3-4 years. Makes me think they are lying to kids about playing time. Everyone knows K only plays 7 guys and sometimes less.

They are ABSOLUTELY lying to recruits, or at the very least, not telling them what they need to know.

Three recruits under Coach K have bailed for not good reasons, and then Jeter (not sure if he had problems), and I think Bolden could be next. He's making sure his wins and his status are fed, where as Cal's the opposite.

What is boggling my mind is why these recruits aren't being made aware of this? Just ask Jackson or Sulaimon or Jeter. Cal is doing right by these kids as best he can, how is K beating him when ever year it seems a recruit leaves because he was recruited over?

When is the announcement?

None yet. Which is another thing, it's not like Duke visited and he either a. committed then or b. set a specific date. He very well could be thinking that he has all his information, has no more desire to go to Zona or Michigan, and is staying on course to decide soon. If that's the case, I still like our chances.

Admittedly, a rash decision to commit has me a little worried. The longer this plays out the better for us.

Not only that. Duke's kids suck in the NBA. They under develop (my guess is that the NBA doesn't baby their asses like the NCAA and the refs).

that's what I thought.
I ain't arguing with you dude if that;s what you're wanting. If you want to think Cal is falling behind in recruiting and the phony in durham is the be all end all go ahead. He's nothing but a copycat that uses his little henchmen to spread garbage about UK.
Dangle all you want. Enjoy. Submit and fret. Have at it.
