Had a commanding 23 -0 lead with RG punting with a few minutes to go before half. Running into the kicker penalty gives RG some momentum.
They score right before halftime and then proceed to score on a long pass play to start Q3. That's high school football.
Rita has just scored with basic running plays up the middle. Junior QB #8 with a powerful run up the gut to make it 30 - 12.

According to Max Preps, SR missed a FG. RG has the ball with three minutes to go. I have to be honest, it's been "three minutes to go" for the last six/seven minutes. What gives?
I agree with this take. Yes, Rita was a bigger favorite, but a crucial penalty gave RG some momentum. They connected on a long pass which eventually led to a great 4th down TD pass to end the half.
No roughing the kicker penalty, Rita probably scores and makes it 30 - 0 at the half. Instead, it's 23 - 6. RG gets possession to start Q3 and proceeds to connect on a 70 yard TD pass on 3rd down, and boom, it's 23 - 12. Momentum!
Another long pass in Q4 gets RG close and they score to make it 30 - 20.
I know I am embellishing here, but it seemed SR only threw the ball 5 times. They just pounded up the middle for the most of the game.
In the end, the score is the score--I get it.
Lessons? Try and prevent long passes, set up a punt return when winning 23 - 0 with 2 mins to go before half, especially when offense is clicking.
LWC at SR should be a great game.

Although they may be a 7 point favorite, LWC is going to be tough. Rita needs to bring their 'A' game.
I notice a blend of Juniors and Sophomores getting lots of minutes. Good for the program.
